You realise there's a difference between coming from a muslim and coming from Islam right?

It is a fact. The Quran describes that the world was not flat but that world was Ostrich shaped egg. Yet all the scientist at the time dismissed it and laughed at the theory of the Quran.

Not quite what I said. I said I can understand people in the past believing in religion. I can also understand uneducated people nowadays believing.

A Muslim might come up with a brilliant idea or invention, that doesn't mean there is a God, just that there was a clever Muslim.

Algebra's history can be traced back to the Babylonians, who weren't Muslims.

I dont think its only the uneducated. Some of the greatest scientific minds of years past were religious.

There are many reasons for it. Cultural indoctrination, closed mindedness, fear of upsetting a vengeful god. Etc etc.

And though I havent read the Quran, I did study various fundements and tenets of the faith before I decided it really wasnt the one for me. The fanatics did little to sway me either, tbh.

Would that be the discovery that the world was round, and it's circumference calculated, that was made by Eratosthenes the ancient greek mathmetician in 236BC, or about 1000 years before Islam was founded?

Im not sure I can beat the sheep by becoming a sheep of a larger herd, but I will take a look at that link after work.

Though I worry for what level of neutrality and objectivity I can expect from a site called miracles of the quran.

You do know that it is a myth that people thought the world was flat? The Quran proved nothing that the Greeks didn't already know.

Then imagine just how terrifying something like a total eclipse must have been for those ancient peoples. Absolutely terrifying. :dread:

Like the sun being put out, their world being plunged into near darkness... Total eclipses still evoke awe, wonder, and we now know why they happen. I've seen one in my lifetime to date and the effect of it has stayed with me ever since.

I agree with that! Other things like volcanos and earthquakes would also convince you that you were doing wrong and the Gods didn't like it.

Well, it's no 'miraclesofthequran.com' but I'd reckon I'd probably believe it when it tells me that the ancient greeks predated the Quran.
