BBC News wrote:The first privately funded mission to the Moon has crashed on the lunar surface after the apparent failure of its main engine.

The Israeli spacecraft - called Beresheet - attempted a soft landing, but suffered technical problems on its descent to the Moon's surface.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-47879538

A shame this wasn't a success, but hopefully it won't deter future private endeavours.

Guess Israel will have to launch an overwhelming military response now.

That's British engineering for you!

...disappointing though of course, the low cost would have been an incredible achievement. Hopefully none will be deterred.

Witty biological-political hybrid jokes are the reason this place fails to cater to a wide audience

Just randomly caught live SpaceX launching and then landing a 3 part rocket on mainland and a bloody drone ship in the ocean, via YouTube. Pretty amazing moment. It's like watching history backwards.

Yeah those rocket landings are incredible, such an amazing feat of engineering and aeronautic (is that a thing?) design.

And if those pen-pushers at NASA don't like it, they can park their overpaid fat asses on this mid-digit and swivel 'till they squeal like pigs on a honeymoon!
