How else would wealth space flight trickle down?

Don't think it really counts being in Space until you're in Orbit :shifty: If you have mega bucks you do the whole ISS thing- $42m according to Google for Guy Laliberte.

Yeah the Virgin one is "just" a high-altitude plane isn't it? Not actually a spaceship like the Bezosmobile.

The whole "is it space" or not thing is really silly because it presupposes this false idea of there being a clear distinction between the atmosphere and space. Virgin Galactic aren't really offering any utility beyond pleasure flights, but I would still love to see that view with the clear curvature and little enough atmosphere above to see a transition into the blackness of space.

The environmental cost of such flights just for pleasure is a bit hard to justify, but hey being optimistic perhaps enough rich people who otherwise don't care will experience enough of the overlook effect while on a flight to realise environmentalism is really important?

Trick is they need to be taxed so they still happen, but enough where it's like would be cheaper if we just solved Global warming.

Being more optimistic, perhaps all the rich people get on a flight that promptly explodes when it reaches space

BBC News wrote:Billionaire Jeff Bezos will blast into space on Tuesday, in the first crewed flight of his rocket ship, New Shepard.

He will be accompanied by Mark Bezos, his brother, Wally Funk, an 82-year-old pioneer of the space race, and an 18-year-old student.

They will travel in a capsule with the biggest windows flown into space, offering stunning views of the Earth.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-57849364

It's scheduled for a 2pm launch (UK time) and I assume it'll be streamed on the Blue Origin youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/blueoriginchannel/featured). Will be very interesting to see how the launch goes. I'm very surprised that Bezos is risking being in the first manned flight, I definitely wouldn't be brave enough :slol:

The fourth passenger is the son of Joes Daemen, founder of Dutch private equity firm Somerset Capital Partners. Oliver had originally secured a seat on the second flight, but was drafted in to replaced the anonymous winner of a public auction.
This unnamed winner, who paid $28m (£20m) to join Bezos on New Shepard's first crewed flight, had to pull out "due to scheduling conflicts".

I hate that brat for getting this opportunity.

But who the strawberry float spends $28m on a trip, then doesn’t go because something more important cropped up?
