It looks like the kind of parody superhero team Warren Ellis would create.

There aren't many artists who can write well. Jeff Lemire and Frank Miller before 9/11 are the only two which come to mind quickly.

PurplePenguin wrote:I read volume one of American Vampire last night it was excellent. The depth of the story and the characters has made for some of the best comic book reading I've ever had. The artwork is impressive too Rafael Albuquerque completely nails it.

Actually you might like Fatale by Brubaker which I've been working my way through recently. It isn't as good as American Vampire but it has the same horror through American history vibe. And Lovecraftian monsters.

I managed to get a copy from the Amazon Marketplace a few months ago. In perfect condition and I think I paid about £16 for it. It's terrible that Vertigo allow certain volumes to go out of stock for so long I had the same problem with 100 Bullets HC deluxe volume one, found it in the end though but I had to pay RRP of £35-38.

Looked on Amazon for months and other places and it's pretty expensive. Not as bad as New Teen Titans omnibus Vol 1 which I want. Bloody people charging over the top prices.

I think this is the hardback. Only £9.35 and if you email them they can confirm. Though considering they're listing the paperback as well for £8.50, I don't think you need to worry but email them to be sure.

I think that listing was up when I was originally looking for it and I think it is actually the paparback version. Worth asking though. I'll keep a look out now I know you're after it and I'll PM you with the details.

Another book I'm still looking for is Volume One of Gail Simone's Secret Six. I think you recommended the series Mori.

No me either which is a shame because they would be great in an omnibus edition. Has there been any word of when to expect The Wake to come out in tpb?

I was sure Volume 1 of The Wake already came out but I was looking on Amazon for it recently and couldn't find anything, maybe they're releasing the whole series as one collection.

Issue 6 out of 10 is out this week so the last five issues won't be released in trade until the end of the year.

Okay I wasn't aware it was only a 10 issue run, I would think they will do the whole series as one collection. I think in the meantime though I will pick up the single issues.

Edit: Just started reading Prophet...it's a strange one and I usually like strange but this is a little too surreal for my liking.

Get A Free Copy Of Invaders #1 With Avengers #27, And A Free Black Widow #1 With Superior Spider-Man #30

Bloody hell that's a bit generous. Or signs maybe that Invaders and Black Widow didn't do the numbers Marvel expected? If so can't help but feel it's because of the $3.99 price point.

Pretty pleased I pre-ordered it off Amazon.com for $85 when I did. It's just gone up to $105 on there.

It's done that once already and gone back down to £73.17. Looking at my wishlist, quite a few marvel books have shot upto or at RRP. They'll go down a bit again before launch.

Besides I've decided now that I'm only getting trades on my b'day/christmas, so a) it saves me money because I ain't buying them and b) I get loads of comics to read at once 8-)
