I know its $9.99 a month or $69 for the year, would be very good if it was a direct conversion of rates.

I got charged £5.93 just over a week ago. There's no paypal option though, and I think some banks charge extra when buying stuff in foreign currency.

They seem to have most stuff. Pretty much entire runs on the big titles I mentioned. The only stuff I've noticed missing is a chunk from the middle of the original New Mutants. They have issue 15 of Amazing Fantasy, the debut of Spider-Man, and nothing else, but I'm not sure if that was considered a big comic apart from that issue.

"ARROW" EP MARC GUGGENHEIM TAKES ON "X-MEN" AFTER BRIAN WOOD

Marc Guggenheim has devoted much of his time in recent years to DC Comics-based TV series "Arrow," but he's back at Marvel in August for a stint on "X-Men," as first revealed by IGN.

Guggenheim's run starts with issue #18, following the departure of initial series writer Brian Wood. An interior artist has not been announced for Guggenheim's story; Matteo Buffagni is solicited to draw Wood's final arc.

Guggenheim told IGN that the book will retain its all-female cast, with the "same concept, same conceit" as Wood's run. "My goal is to pick up where Brian left off," Guggenheim said. "It's not going to be this radical change. It should be a very nice, even, easy transition from his last issue to my first issue."

The four-part story will take place in space, with S.W.O.R.D. enlisting the X-Men's help after Shi'ar warrior Deathbird arrives at the Jean Grey School "at the brink of death." Guggenheim said the story was partly motivated by his own nostalgia.

"The Brood Saga grabbed me as an early reader," Guggenheim is quoted. "I didn't want to do another Brood story, because Chris Gage had done 'Children of the Brood,' which was fantastic. But I liked the idea of taking this all-female team of X-Men and putting them in outer space. In doing something that was a little different than 'The X-Men meet Star Wars,' this was more along the lines of "The X-Men meets Aliens.' It's darker, it's a little more mysterious, and it's scarier."

Guggenheim has an extensive background in both comics and television. Prior to his current role as executive producer of "Arrow," he wrote multiple comics for both Marvel and DC, including the "Civil War" tie-in issues of "Wolverine," "Young X-Men" and "Justice Society of America."

Wood took to Twitter to curtail potential speculation surrounding his departure: "I left the title on my own accord, no drama, no pressure, just moving on."

Keep reading CBR for more from Guggenheim on "X-Men."

Shame the first 3 issues with Coipel on art were strawberry floating fantastic. Wonder what Wood is moving onto, perhaps something spinning out of original sin.

Because Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb is awful at most things.

I honestly thought that Millar wrote Ultimatum until just now :dread: Loeb's name always just makes me think "Hey it's the guy who did Long Halloween. Why's he working for Marvel not DC?" something which admittedly comes more from my own ignorance of anything else Loeb has done than the actual path of his career.

I gave two new books a try yesterday; Nailbiter had the feel of a horror comic down but the only thing that actually hooked me was the blurb suggesting where the thing might go, the writing itself was eh and the scariest part of the book was the artist's attempt at drawing a forward-facing face. The potential's obviously there from the narrative but it's shown nothing yet.

The Woods alternatively had a weaker concept (school magically transported to hostile alien planet) but the issue itself worked better, I just hope the story develops beyond Predators with kids and the characters develop beyond high school stereotypes accompanied by the mysterious loner genius. The biggest downside was one panel where a schoolkid got killed by some bat-creature came off for me as complete comedy because the absurdity and sudden nature of the panel made it so ridiculous it couldn't be threatening.

The biggest plus of reading the two is that they've rekindled my interest in horror although the two comics themselves need to massively improve in that area.

Loeb is actually a better writer than Millar but he probably has a bigger litany of failures. Off the top of my head:

He actually got fired from Heroes. How bad do you have to be to get fired from that mess?
He was responsible for cancelling the acclaimed The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon because he didn't like its long story arcs. Plus he wanted a new Avengers show to tie into the awful Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.
Apparently his mismanagement is responsible for a lot of the problems with Agents of SHIELD.
He wrote Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum which are blamed for killing the Ultimate Universe.
He's generally blamed for replacing Nova with the character Sam Alexander who seems to be widely hated.
