Rage of the Red Lanterns, Agent Orange, then Blackest Night.

For me Green Lantern went down the toilet with the spectrum beyond the Sinestro Corps. There's some good moments with the other Corps but Blackest Night did nothing for me. No Fear and those early issues of GLC were the best apart from the Sinestro Corps War.

I jumped off when the third GL series appeared.

Everything else. I don't think anyone here's had a good experience with them.

For subscriptions, I can't recommend Economic Comics enough. I've been using them for about two years, and they've been pretty much faultless.

Ok.. I wish you hadn't shown me that.

Can't. Stop. Subscribing.

I keep it locked to a manageable ten these days.

Green Lantern Corps was better than regular Green Lantern until the last few issues even if it was the backup title.
It's disappointing to see the return of the miniseries this week with the Huntress and Penguin six parters. The Huntress one is already being billed as tying into Birds of Prey which us obviously just starting.

I'd never had a major problem with Forbidden Planet before ordering some of the new 52 but they really have annoyed me with their seemingly random distribution on this.

My confirmation emails have so far contained these wonderful announcements

Forbidden Planet wrote:Hi,

So I decided to start reading American Vampire with the most recent issue and get the earlier stuff in trade and I enjoyed it. However I also bought the side-story mini-series Survival of the Fittest which I've just discovered is collected in the Volume 3 trade.

That aside, Scott Snyder remains my favourite new writer.

Avengers 17 :fp:

So nothing mentioned of the pointless romance on the front cover. But that wasn't my biggest fault with it. It mentioned Iron Man's battle against Stane at the beginning of Fraction's Invincible Iron Man run, about how he used all his armours at once. Pretty cool idea for Avengers to mention it as The Protector was using all of Tony's armour, but then i realised. Tony lost all his armours but like 9 in that same book and those 9 he burnt down to scrap for the prototype car. That still wasn't my main problem with the book because as usual the art was. God I'm so glad Romita jnr has left it now. It's so obvious he only gets the work because of his actually talented father and his history with marvel. Romita jnr is like artist version of Loeb atm. Avoid.

On the plus side I am finally reading All Star Superman.

Pluggity plug time:

Pinocchio flickered, and Geppetto knew he told a lie. Goldilocks sipped the porridge, and swallowed a scrumptious alien. Alice followed the white rabbit, and lost herself in a virtual world gone mad. Our fairy tales and fables are timeless and fluid. Whether German folklore, Japanese legend, or American tall tale, the best stories have always been retrofitted for different cultures and different values, different time periods and different outlooks. Once Upon a Time Machine casts old tales onto uncertain futures, and reveals these stories for what they truly are: ideas older than time. Absolute lessons with relative realities. Stories of human nature, no matter the planet, millennium, or genetic mutation. Once Upon a Time Machine is an all-ages comics anthology featuring imaginative stories and beautiful artwork from visionaries and dreamers. Some 400 full-color pages, featuring some of the brightest stars in comics today – each imagining futures where our favorite stories still exist, even though everything we now know has changed. Artificial intelligence and space races. The desolation of space and distant colonies. Apocalypse and robots. No matter what the future holds, the world will always need heroes and folk tales, and this book imagines what those tales will look like. The book features a cover and title pages by Farel Dalrymple (Pop Gun War, Omega the Unknown), along with work from other notable contributors such as Khoi Pham (The Mighty Avengers), Ryan Ottley (Invincible), Cary Nord (Conan), and Marcio Takara (The Incredibles).

It's an honour to be involved in this project with all of the talent above attached.

More info can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/onceuponatimemachine

And yesterday Bleeding Cool ran with our story too: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/10/06/once-upon-a-time-machine-the-greatest-story-never-told/

There's been a bunch of interest after the BC article went up and it'd be cool if a bunch of you could head on over to the FB page, click 'Like' and generally just spread the word about said project. The art Rich has up on BC is just the beginning. The entire book looks that gorgeous.

Just read Nate Powell's 'Swallow Me Whole' - really different to what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it's great to get away from the big two and capes.

Craig Thompson's 'Habibi' is sat next to me awaiting to be read as well. Gonna try and get through a back-log of trades I've got and not pick up comics till payday.

Is there any more promising talent then Scott Snyder? I seriously like everything the guy puts out and even more so when you hear him talk about the books. His thoughts on Batman pretty much exactly mirror my own and I hope he stays on a Bat-book for a long time to come. DC really need to NOT strawberry float up relations with him as they have so many other talents.

Ah, it's really good, isn't it? I just read up to the last part of Ghost War last week, haven't started Survival of the Fittest yet. Did you get Ghost War in single issue? The covers are amazing, join them all together for an excellent piece of artwork. It'll be interesting to see how it continues, I doubt Skinner's dead, he seems like too big a part to write off like that.

I'm sure he said that he's signed with them until 2013, it'd be great if he could stay longer. 2 years doesn't seem like much in comic land.

I agree with you both, his stuff is fantastic and the quality only seems to be getting better and better. That's 3 of the top titles he has on the go right now and I'd like to think he'll be mentioned with the likes of Miller, Dixon and Morrison when great Bat books are mentioned in the future. I also have faith in him putting another interesting spin on Swamp Thing, can't wait to see how that turns out.

.

The only single issue of the main AV series I've got is #19 which is the first part of the flashback arc. #1-#18 are all collected across the first three trades so I'll pick up those when I can.

Cheers! It's been gestating for a while now (almost 2 years this December) and the Bleeding Cool article has helped kick up a lot of interest again in the project. The art shown there is merely the beginning.

I have another book out that I'll be shilling at Thought Bubble. I'm writing that Marvel style (give plot outline to artist, artist draws it, I then fill in the dialogue) and the results have been. . . interesting.

I've also managed to snag an artist who has done bona-fide work for a few Image books for covers for an upcoming project that will be heading Image's way come submission time.

Slowly but surely...

Pimpery aside, has anyone else been reading Witch Doctor, Luther Strode, or Pigs? All recommended!

I saw this on Twitter earlier and it looked fantastic, never knew you had involvement :o

So did you write/draw some stories for the comic? When is it due? I must have it!
