If you are just wanting Guardians of the Galaxy, then the Annihilation: Conquest Star Lord mini-series followed by the main Annihilation: Conquest event is the best place to start. That's where the team assembles and it leads into their 2008 solo series.

Annihilation takes place before all this and isn't essential for GotG backstory, but it's still highly recommended. It's pretty big though, I think there's around 20 tie-in issues from various mini-series (Drax, Nova, Super-Skrull, Silver Surfer etc.) as well as the actual six-issue event.

I've wanted Annihilation for a while but the individual volumes go for a small fortune due to their rarity. The are expensive the omnibuses but to be fair the quality is usually very good.

Marvel Comics FULL MAY 2014 Solicitations

Marvel Comics did not provide the covers for the Original Sin issues and tie-ins - stay tuned for those soon.

I think I saw CBR or someone has an exclusive interview with Aaron today, that's when those will get shown probs.

Uncanny Avengers & New Avengers

I know it's obvious who the bride is if you've read Deadpool Gauntlet, but Deadpool 28's cover just straight up spoils it anyway

Here we go live blog time

There were two secrets the panelists were willing to put on the table: Captain America will learn that somebody close to him has tampered with his memories ("That will have a seismic effect on Cap's relationship with the people around him," said Brevoort. "It's the worst possible time for Cap to be faced with something like this."); and in Spider-Man's world, we'll learn that there is someone else that was bitten by the radioactive spider that originally bit Peter Parker. Fallout will begin being dealt with in Dan Slott's new "Amazing Spider-Man" #1. "It's a character that cuts back to the very first day in the science lab," said Brevoort.

First one is goes back to the first issue of Avengers NOW obvs.

Sounds strawberry floating quality.

Marvel Criticised Over Paper Quality Of Infinity And Other Hardcovers

Yikes :dread: :dread: :dread:

Hopefully the Annihilation Omnibus won't be like this, but surely they've started printing copies already? :dread:

I've just bought the Infinity Hardcover...I'm a careful reader anyway I handle books as if they are ancient scrolls lol. If anyone is interested in picking up the Infinity hardcover It's £30.31 with free delivery at Speedyhen.com. I've used them plenty of times and they are excellent.

I'll be strawberry floating pissed if my Uncanny X-Force omnibus is like that.

One of the guys in the forum linked there lins to his review of Avengers: Endless Wartime. My copy had exactly the same wavy paper problem as that http://junkfoodforthought-krisshaw.blog ... rtime.html

I'm going to hold off buying the Infinity hardcover until I know what it's like. Some of those look pretty shocking for a £40 collection :dread:

I think it's a problem with marvel's larger hardcovers but not their omnibus editions because a xmen omnibus came out like a month or so ago and it seems to be the usual quality.

Marvel just trying to be as cheap as possible it seems. Maybe that's how they are getting the event hardcovers out so quickly after the single issues have been out.

A lot of it seems to be an overreaction from people who haven't actually got a copy of the Infinity hardback. I'm reading one post now from a guy who bought it who says his was perfectly fine he said he would prefer the paper to be a bit thicker.

'I'd definitely recommend the Infinity OHC if you can get it at a heavily discounted rate (and who can't?). I'm all for letting Marvel know that their quality is slipping, but I've read a half-dozen posts of people who say they're cancelling their orders because they are now convinced that their copies would be extremely wavy. My copy wasn't wavy at all. The first two pages had slight two-inch long wrinkles in the middle of the white blankness. That was it.'

They've cut costs on single issues too. DC's covers are nice and glossy but Marvel's are just paper.

I noticed that as well

Some other things I noticed:

MIGHTY AVENGERS #10
AL EWING (W)
Greg Land (A/C)

:dread: :dread: :dread: :dread:

And Hickman is off Avengers World as of #6. Yep dropped :dread: :dread:

The rest of the market puts both of them to shame. Image's single issues are amazing quality wise.

Finally, Icey1999 asks, "It's great that Iron Patriot is getting his own series not only to increase his status, but also to break the race-barrier. With this in mind, could we expect more African-American heroes, like Storm or Falcon, to star in a solo series?"

Alonso: I wouldn't be surprised, Icey1999…

I read volume one of American Vampire last night it was excellent. The depth of the story and the characters has made for some of the best comic book reading I've ever had. The artwork is impressive too Rafael Albuquerque completely nails it.

I've been reading volume one of The Massive this morning and that is a very good read too so much so I've ordered volume two and the hardcover volume one of DMZ which is also written by Brian Wood.
