Yes it does. I watched the first 3 episodes and went months without watching the rest of the season because I didn't think those episode were strong. It'll click a few more episodes in. I reckon if I watched those first 3 episodes now I'd probably quite like them.

Listening to the actual recording paints Chase in a much better light than just taking the attention grabbing 'Chase says that Community is strawberry floating gooseberry fool!' headline at face value. But the recording also has Dan Harman responding rather sarcastically to Chevy saying that he [Harman] just doesn't get his humour.

Did Harman add this later? I don't get it.

Harmon played the voicemail to a public audience during a screening event and someone recorded it, Harmon's commentary and all. That's how sophisticated his sense of humour is.

Okay, so he played the voicemail and someone else leaked a recording of him playing the voicemail? Pathetic. The voicemail isn't even bad, or wrong.

Is it correct that Harmon kept the voicemail for a year before playing it?

Something like that. Harmon's rapidly accruing a reputation as bad as Chase's. He got kicked off The Sarah Silverman Show (which he co-created) for being a massive dick.

I remember a while ago someone on twitter made a slight criticism about the show despite saying they liked it and he got very defensive and started insulting them. He sounds like a bit of a tool.

I follow him on twitter, he's always like that. If some happens to mention they would have preferred x to do y he goes on the same "Why don't you make your own award winning show dickwad" rant every time.

Here's a lovely exchange:

Some guy wrote:@danharmon was there a note from NBC that said: start working the word "dick" into the scripts? Not that I'm complaining...

Harmon wrote:@NickJChaney something about a note from your mom about dick and her not complaining! Unless you're one of those "my mom's dead" guys

Today's episode or last week's? Thought today's was too weird and tried to be too clever.

Well that was...the weirdest episode. Like, ever. I think I liked it. It dealt with a lot of character issues in an interesting and entertaining way. It was far too clever for its own good though. Still, one of this season's better eps.

This week's episode.

Community is at its best when its doing strange stuff that would never happen in any other sitcom.

I disagree, and think of the Christmas and trampoline episodes, which stand out as the two that tried to be really different, as the two worst in the show's history.

Good episode today, though. Even though they've gone ridiculously OTT with the Dean.

Just listened to this. I think Chevy Chase comes off as a bit of a banana split to be honest - very full-of-himself.

This week's was alright. The show definitely hasn't been as good since the return though.

Another great episode I thought, the best part was obviously Troy's confessions

It was a good episode but not great. Dunno, I didn't think it was particularly clever or that complex, and I didn't really find it funny. The biggest laugh I got was from the end when Troy pulled out the technical difficulties sign. That said, it was good because it did at least have some character development and stuff, definitely weird though.

The Christmas episode stands as one of the best half hour sitcom episodes ever made.

The Trampoline episode was just dull, its no good if the out there idea is boring, it has to be something interesting.

Good episode yesterday, they really, really, really need to ground them back in the college though for several episodes before the finale. If they continue down this path its just going to lead to a constant one-upmanship of 'out there' premises until it just becomes a mess of non-sensical plot lines and ill defined characters. Which to be honest its already started.

Too self indulgent and too low on laughs.

Think of other 'wierd' episodes they've done - all the best had a decent amounts of laughs.

They need to realise a little Abed goes a long way.

True dat about Abed. His and Troy's relationship has gone from BFF to hetero-life partners to weird co-dependent fantasy. It says a lot that Jeff was hardly in this ep, or the last for that matter. He's certainly not the best character but he was always the audience proxy: we saw the weirdness and antics through his eyes. When you take that out you get eps like this that are so desperate to show how clever they are that they lose coherance and humour somewhere along the way.

Hugo's right though, the claymation Xmas ep is the best of the entire show.
