@Cutty All of them but Parks is the least worst in that respect.

No way. The over arcing storylines a few seasons in were just bad. And every single character has gradually morphed into another Jake with zero nuance.

I really like B99, but I'm a good few seasons behind now so I don't know how well it has held up recently. It definitely got worse when Gina started disappearing (not sure what point that was)

That was around the time it started dropping noticeably in quality so you got out at the right time!

I've always been adept at pulling out at the right time. :datass:

I thought the last season rallied quite a bit, and it ended strongly.

I agree with the 2 seasons before that. Those were not bad, but not great either.

I'm struggling to remember exactly what happened in the last few seasons in all honesty, I just know I remember finding it hard work to make it to the end.

The last season with Steve Carell in is where the slide begins I think, then the whole sequence of different bosses (Will Ferrell, Idris Elba, the woman from Misery, Catherine Tate etc.) is just meh. The actual ending is quite good but I couldn't say anything else about the rest of that last season because it's all blurred into a mess!

Although the last few of seasons were a bit naff in general, I really wish Parks ended at season 6's finale. It felt like a proper end to the show to me and season 7 was just weird. I didn't mind season one as much on the rewatch as I did when I first started watching (though I hated Andy in that first season, especially coming back from the later ones), and overall the show is mostly pretty consistent due to the characters, though seasons 2 to 4 are definitely the best.

Community is really up and down which is a shame because the best of it is utterly brilliant. But of course, the worst of it is really quite bad. Back half of season one through to the middle season 3 is pretty much brilliant the whole way through. There are some great moments in season 5 though Troy leaving was gutting, and season 6 I remember enjoying at the time but can't really remember in any capacity.

The Office US is mostly great from season 2 to season 5, some good in 6, starts to really drop off there though. It's probably the most consistent overall, though Parks comes close for me.

It's so weird that US shows tend to take a long time to get going and settle in. Then their high episode counts and long running lengths can really drag things down too.

Just watched the chicken Mafia episode of Community. Such an amazing, perfect spoof.

Parks never does anything really creative like that.

Yep, episodes like this are just leagues ahead of anything even the best moments of Parks can manage

Because of this thread I started rewatching Community. It's actually pretty surprising how quickly it settles. Usually U.S. comedies take a fair few eps to get going but this is great pretty much from the start.

I just finished Parks and Rec. That last season was strawberry floating weird. The finale kind of fell flat for me. Oh well.

Disagree hard on B99 falling in quality as it goes on. Falls into a couple of sitcom traps but there’s still something that breaks me in just about every episode, and later seasons use their position to get in on the social commentary as well, which is good for a New York based cop show.

Some people value consistency over peaks and troughs. If most episodes of Community were that good then this would be cut and dry.

Has anyone been watching Superstore on Netflix?

That's been surprisingly consistent and they're wrapping up after the current sixth season so they'll be going on a high.
