Community probably has more memorable moments, but Parks & Rec always felt like a more rounded, consistent show over all its seasons.

They even themselves up I think.

Community has higher highs (far higher, and far more of them) and for me Parks is the show that drops off a cliff more towards the end.

Given Community had to deal with significant cast and show runner issues from season 4 onward it had far more reason to suffer a wobble, Parks doesn't have any such excuse.

There's absolutely nothing from Parks that can touch the brilliance of a Community episode like a Modern Warfare (paintball 1), Epidemiology (zombie Halloween), or Remedial Chaos Theory (you know the gif).

Both have highs and lows.

Community has much higher highs.

Community has much lower lows.

Overall though, Community was funnier than Parks.

I've seen more of Parks and Rec than Community. But it's still Community. I watched that up until Season 5 (I think?) The show has an okay 1st season, it gets way better after that.

Parks is generally consistent after Season 1. But I agree with other people, it has very few high points.

I just don't get the "generally more consistent" view of Parks. It becomes very wonky with massively flanderised, awful characters from around season 5 onward - that's like 40% of the shows life!

We've only just watched the first episode of parks and recreation, and it was ok. Very very American, like the inferior US office, but it had a few funny bits. Not seen any of community.

The first season of Parks is pretty poor. It takes a little time to get going.

This. The first season is crap, it gets much better after that.

They're two very different shows so it's quite hard to compare, unlike say...Parks and The Office (the latter of which is better). P&R is more of a typical sitcom, whilst Community had more ridiculous, OTT and surreal episodes. Both certainly dropped in quality, and I can't really remember much of Community past season 3 as I think I stopped watching it around season 4 (Troy had left by then, right?). However, the first 3 seasons were great TV. Community's highs were better than Parks', but I guess overall I prefer Parks as I actually managed to finish it - even if the last season was terrible. Tough choice though, and probably depends on my mood.

Yeah Parks really takes a while to get going, seasons 2-4 are very good TV but never tips over into being anything truly special, 5-7 are weaker - often going to sub-season 1 levels IMO.

Community is a bit up and down but the highs are incredible and the quality of guest stars they had on over the years was just consistently outstanding. They steal every scene.

Jason Mantzoukas is great in pretty much everything to be fair.

He's a good example of the wider debate here in fact - his Community guest appearance is far better than his one on Parks ;)

Couldn't finish Community. It's a 40 hour long Reddit post. Utterly painful to watch.

I started a 2nd viewing of Parks and Rec when it came back to Netflix the other week but I've not found it as funny this time round.

I voted for Parks and Rec on the basis I have watched it all the way through.
