Community’s gimmick episodes are their best.

It’s a shame the D&D episode has been scrubbed, because that was also one of the greats. Felt a little harsh to me. Chang, a character already established as intolerant, plays as a dark elf, and paints every inch of his skin jet black, other characters comment “are we just going to ignore this hate crime?”, he is killed within seconds and storms off annoyed at all the time wasted. Removing the whole episode for that brief moment, while it is actively acknowledging that the character has done something racist during it, just felt like an overcorrection, to me.

But of course as a white guy, it’s not my call to say what is or is not going too far with respect to blackface.

That episode is still (or very recently was) on Prime. It was only Netflix that removed it.

I haven't seen that episode but I get the impression that Netflix completely ignored the context and/or didn't understand the issue.

Community definitely wins the award for worst character ever.

That strawberry floating British guy is infinitely worse than 100 Jean Ralphios. :dread:

Which British guy? You better not be referring to my boy Professor Ian Duncan AKA John Oliver?! :capnscotty:

Anyone who delivers the line “I love pizza! In England we call them 'Italian Fannies.'” deserves respect.

I will see you at precisely 6:30, or as we say in England 'gravediggers biscuits'!

I like Jean Ralphio, but he's best used sparingly. I'm currently on my 2nd rewatch (so 3rd watch overall), and am at the start of series 4 and he's not annoyed me yet.

I really like them both, and really enjoy both sets of characters. I think Parks might edge it for me as it's a more hopeful aspirational show, but I do like a good parody.

Currently watching Modern Family, I'm up to season 7 and it's definitely a better mockumentary comedy than Parks at this point.

Oh I'm expecting it to, but so far everything from 1-6 has been excellent which can't be said for Parks which makes it already a better show! :D

Yeah, Office > MF > Parks for me.

Phil is an absolute gem of a character

Yeah Phil is great! One of the strengths I think is how solid the ensemble is. In many shows with this many 'main' characters you would expect more weak links but they really manage to give everyone something to work with

MF hurts when none of the children grow up to be funny, which is a shame as they're all quite funny kids.

Except for Alex who's just all the worst parts of Lisa Simpson with none of the self-awareness.

They even draw attention to how gooseberry fool she is in an episode where they're all living in bliss and getting along coz she's away on some study trip and like the second she gets home the whole place falls apart.

The only thing I know about Modern Family is pictures of boobs when a celebrity dies.

It's what they would've wanted.
