It always surprises me what ends up being more popular when I make videos, I can make one in depth video which I think is insightful and offers something not really on Youtube, for example my Video on the Tales from the Crypt unmade films Fat Tuesday and BodyCount, there seems to be very little talk about them anywhere and get next to no views, I then make a very quick review of a Cannibal film and it gets a whole bunch of views. Does anyone have a video they put loads of effort in to one thats had like no views and yet there super proud of it? If you do share and I will watch it to get it to at least one more view.

I imagine so must of it must come down to opaque algorithm decisions and other tertiary aspects like the day of the week and time of the day you upload a video (as the early engagement especially is going to have a disproportionate effect on who else sees the video). And, of course, the thumbnail ( :x )

Tbh, the editing I do takes me a damn age, I know I really should just use snippets of game footage, but I spend ages going through hours of streams to pick out things that match what's being said. It means videos are slow as feck to make. Like the one I'm doing know I spent all the spare time yesterday and today tring to find a specific time I healed when I had a bar full at 3 bars and I didn't find the.pwrfect snippet as I wanted 3 people to be knocked out, I just went with all 4 people getting healed instead of revived instead as it's taking so long. I do this with ever Final Versict and then get about 5 views  its not really worth it in that respect.

I also really like the idea of the GRcade Collective, but I wish we could do something differnt at the end of the video, or just in general with the videos. It's also be cool to do something collabarative every so often to try and extend all of our reach.

Like P3DZ, I put alot of care into each video I upload (some more than others obviously, depending on whether its mostly straight gameplay or an intense compilation spanning dozens of bespoke clips) but the peak of these efforts, my series of Watch Dogs 2 videos, where I present a thorough overview of the game's entire open-world, are sorely in need of appreciation I feel. Hell, despite the lack of attention they garnered, I was actually considering doing a re-edit at one point.

I don't youtube myself but for a few years now I have been guesting on a channel (ProjectFalconPunch) to talk about my GOTY picks with Dan (samus_killer on (S)ONM). Just today my 2019 video finally got uploaded... although I don't blame Dan, I made some pretty obscure choices that he had to go and collect footage for

Anyone else done anything recent they want to share?

River City Girls! :toot:

You are a discerning gentleman Mr RKN.

Also great conversational tone and points in the video between you two - I enjoyed last year's and I enjoyed this one too :D

That Sonic Generations video of mine showing the GUN truck in slo-mo still gets views to this day. It's such an old video that it's the only one on my channel with the bandicam watermark on it. Meanwhile, gameplay footage of a much higher quality and of more recent or even unique games (in terms of Youtube unique) barely get any views. In fact, of all the videos posted this year, none of them have more than ten views.

I think of all my videos, the Mario Kart Monday videos deserve to get more views than they have. Those I put the most work into, trying to coerce the highlight reel function to produce a good string of shots that can be used, along with getting unique banners for all the players at the end, and making sure to the best of my ability that everyone has enough screentime.

You just can't expect Youtube to be any help, though. Its algorithm is completely shot, expecting everyone to conform to a certain way of doing things and a very rigid focus for their channel. I doubt Twitch is much better in that regard, though, but at least on Twitch people seem more friendly and welcome to support others.

I got 56 subs. Well on my way to making youtube millions :datass:

This is maybe because I'm being non conformist and I'm not having a strawberry floating stupid face on the thumbnail. Or it could well be that the stuff is utterly shite

I guess that makes me non-conformist too, can't stand those types of thumbnails.

That last one barely seems to qualify. Looks more like she's in an American news studio reporting on some club that just opened.

I can easily recognise Smosh, the main Yogscast channel, and Hat Films on the top row, but everyone else I'm at a complete loss over.

Thanks! Definitely came off better thanks to the editing

River City Girls is genuinely one of my favourite looking and sounding games of the generation

I have no issue with using something different at the end of the video what we have is just something I knocked together so we could get things rolling. I also have no issue with doing something collaborative its just working out how and when. I work a lot of very early shifts which is what often gets in the way of me doing the podcast.

Yep, there are videos i've poured hours of time and effort into only to end up with very little in terms of views (though the following is a travel vid and not a gaming one).

On the flipside, i can produce a quick coin collection vid in a few mins with little effort, and boom, 500k views (and rising)!

Some of my highly edited SNES reviews that have multiple bits of game footage in like sunset riders, alien 3 and punch out took an age to make and have very little to show for it, some of the simple just 5 minutes of randomly recorded footage ones did great.

I think the easiest way to colab a little more is to ask people to record something to go into your video, for example I'm just starting to think about a video on the SNES power rangers neo racing game and if anyone wanted to I'd happily welcome someone recording a piece of audio or video explaining who/what the power rangers are .

I've been doing reviews for years, my most watched video is my L.A Noire review at around 20K views. But I recently did a hidden gems video for the 3DS. I'm gonna try and do one for the DS soon, just wish I was better at making videos.

Yo what's good guys, made my first video for my new channel JezoShow - a comedy gaming channel because there's not enough of those. This first vid is on Super Mario Ball for the GBA:

Hope you like it~
