Do you know anyone who is a celebrity or is related to a celebrity?

Most of mine only mean something if you're Irish but:

John Egan, defender for Sheffield United and the Ireland football team, was in my school. We had band practice together every week.

John Spillane, famous Irish singer, has a nephew also called John Spillane. We were in the same class for thirteen years and went to Scouts together.

-Eileen Walsh, famous Irish actress (Magdalene Sisters) has a younger sister, who was my teacher for six years. We climbed mountains together every month for five years.

-I'm close friends with Andy, the brother of singer Christy Moore. Andy's the landlord for the Mormon missionaries in my hometown

-I had supper with Irish singer Mary Black

-My teacher for three years was Brendan, brother of Irish rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll

-I'm close friends with Jonny Schmidt, son of the lead member of The Piano Guys

Not personally, though my autograph collection is still pretty substantial.

I went to school with the Labour MP for Glasgow North-East, the one who got Ross Thomson the sack. You can take this however you like, but he was always a candidate for politics.

Also, I know/have known a couple of lower-league Scottish footballers(I was taught high school politics by the wife of the ex-Partick Thistle manager Gerry Britton), but that's a bit like saying you know the local checkout operators. One of them ended up driving buses I'm sure, and said Partick manager retrained as a lawyer in later life. Different world to the Premier League.

I went to school and was friends with Nathan Filer (author), he’s not really very famous though.

I also went to school with Jenny Jones, she was the first British person to win an Olympic medal on snow.

I used to work with Andy Cole and Tracey Chapman. But they were just namesakes of the footballer and singer.

Ive coached an Irish international rugby player. But unfortunately womens sport isnt as popular as mens sport so its unlikey anyone knows her name.

I caddied for Neil Jenkins once, he was a gooseberry fool golfer, but I did see him hit a golfball off a tree beside the tee box and catch it on the rebound which was absolutely amazing to see.

I went to the same school as Jessie Buckley, she was in my brothers year, a few years below me.

A work friend was in the same class as Taron Egerton at school and I'm pretty sure still has him on facebook. She told us he was almost cast as Han Solo in Solo, which I'm not sure is common knowledge.

I walked past Dr Robert Winston and both Cheeky Girls on the same day in 2009 (the latter two were together at the time, suspiciously)

I was once baby sat by a famous England rugby player with a double barrelled name but I forget which one

I once taught noted TERF and general arsehole bigot Graham Linehan how to play the Arkham Horror LCG via twitter. This was pre public bigotry.

I used to work with comedian Imran Yusuf. He's really funny. I like him.

One of my substitute English teachers at school was a football commentator, or at least he used to do the lower league summaries on the Sunday version of Soccer AM anyway. Can't remember his name. He didn't like West Ham.

I sold kids socks and some other bits I can't remember, to Nicola Sturgeon when she was Health Minister and I worked for Next.

A few other footballers who I can never remember. Though I do remember Rangers player Barry Ferguson buying a pair of Union Jack socks.

I also used to work with Kieran Tierneys (Celtic and now Arsenal) big sister. I still remember her telling us about how he'd been signed by Celtic as a kid.

For four years at school I was in the same class as one of the guys from The Architects. Sadly, he was a complete bellend.

My uncle was either friends with or was shagging Adjoa Andoh back in the late 70s and early 80’s. Apparently she babysat me.

She acted in Invictus so I have an excellent Bacon score to Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood. She also played Martha’s mum on Doctor Who.

It's not an immediately obvious pull, but it's a good one.

I think this is one of the few times I've genuinely missed Eighthours. His constant referencing of his (minor) connection to (minor) comedian Mark Watson really added a frisson of... something to threads like this.

EDIT: I forgot my biggest one: my grampa always claimed he briefly went out with Shirley Bassey before she hit the bigtime.

Glad someone got it ;)
