I am apparently distantly related to Gina McKee.

I played football with Matt Smith (actor) for a number of years. I was also friends with the younger brother of Alan Carr at school. Met Alan but way before he was famous.

I doubt either would bat an eyelid at me now. I’m told Matt is a right pompous dickhead now.

Quite a few for a fairly sheltered life.

My grandad had an affair with Helen Shapiro back in the day.

My mum briefly worked security for Bruce Willis. He never changed he shirt and smells real bad.

I went to a funeral with Mark from Westlife

I went to a funeral where Midge Ure did a reading and Piers Morgan and Alistair Campbell had a Twitter fight in my local pub.

I've had breakfast with Bon Jovi when we were setting up the communications unit for first aid at MK Bowl.

I got drunk with Claire from Steps after a panto. Her mum lives on the same road as my parents.

Went to school with a few rich kids who has famous parents but I don't care for naming names of dickheads who think they're better than you. (Also for anonymity sake, I want to keep my online presence the secret shame it is)

I live near Limmy and for a while we kept bumping into each other in Local Sainsburys. It got awkward then we sborh stopped at traffic lights on our bikes in the south side and it got even more sketchy.

One of my cousins plays up front for Liverpool

Also Willie Thorne used to live in the same village as me, but he's recently moved to Spain. :(

I once served Peter Beardsley while I worked as a till operator for M&S

I sent someone the wrong directions on purpose, because I was in a bad mood that day. Turns out that person was Patrick Kluivert

Less Total Football, more Total Dick Move

I forgot, a (not very close) friend of mine’s dad is the keyboardist and main songwriter for Simple Minds. Guess which song he doesn’t have a writing credit on...

Oh strawberry float, I met Johnny Depp in full Cpt Jack getup whilst he was filming the 4th Pirates film at work.

He did not try to beat me up. Probably because I wasn't a woman.

Certainly not fame on the wider level, but I'm reasonably friendly with a lot of 'top players' or whatever in the Pokemon TCG scene, and within the community am somewhat famous myself.

The bar is very, very low.

As for real celebrities... nope, I have nothing.

Quite a few from when I worked in the Guitar dept. at Andertons.

•Keith Chegwin. Came in for microphone for his voice over work:
Image

•Doug Aldrich (then Whitesnake guitarist) - came in and did a promo thing with Marshall amps - he was really nice and bought us beers, and Chinese food.
He came back in the following day and said how it was really great to meet me. I was thinking it should be the other way round! I mentioned there was a huge Whitesnake fan who couldn't make it the night before in one of the demo rooms, and so Doug just waltzed in there to surprise the guy. Just chatted like they were friends and then melted the guy's face off with about ten minutes of great guitar playing. Guy bought that guitar IIRC..

Not only the nicest celebrity I've ever met, but genuinely one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's so cool!
Image

•Mark Evans, veterinary expert and TV host.
He'd come in to buy his son guitars etc. I remember the first time I saw him, I said: "I know you...!" And he simply smiled, and said "I don't know you, what's your name? Nice to meet you" :)

• Petr Cech - Chelsea goalie at the time.
Loved playing the drums and we'd often keep the shop often late for him to come in and shop without the public being there.
My friend got in trouble when Petr asked if he had any more cymbals to try. My friend replied "I Petr Cech we have them in stock..."

•One of my colleagues, Jack, went on to be James Bay's keyboard player. Toured the world.

•Another colleague, Gav, was in a band called Wolfgang that supported Coldplay on their USA tour.

•Eric Clapton came into the store like two days after I left. So this doesn't count, but still cool.

The best one to come from the Music Shop though.

•Ben Dover. Porn star.
His son, Tyger (the Teenage son from "Outnumbered" btw)
Made a documentary about sex, or the influence of porn on teenagers, or something.
For some reason, filmed himself interviewing his dad in the shop. I never saw the end product.

That's all I can think of for now!

I need to look into it, but I think I may be a second cousin to Martin McDonagh (director of In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths and Three Billboards) and John Michael McDonagh (The Guard, Calvary and War on Everyone). Their Dad is from one village over from my Nan, and that part of Ireland is so absurdly small that the likelihood of it being coincidence is slim.
