I'd still rather have more Control than something Wake focused next though.

I agree with Jenuall. For once his opinion isn't gooseberry fool.

Other that the adaptive triggers, are there many differences between the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of this? Do they both run the same?

Not really, just slightly higher framerate on photo mode for series x which digital spy kindly pointed out.

The haptics on ps5 make it a no brainer, however its also on game pass, so ‘free’ is better than paying for it if you’re going to play it soon as it will eventually be delisted.

Is the Ultimate edition on Game Pass now?

Doesn't look like it, so I am guessing its the last gen version without ray tracing etc. Obviously the ps plus version of Control was 'free' too.

Well I'm a few hours into my second playthrough, started a new game, and I'm in love with it. Knowing what's going on and being able to just play the game instead of stopping to read every two seconds has increased my enjoyment tenfold.

The presentation is second to none, especially during the intro.

It doesn't help that a lot of what you read is boring and pointless. But then they do hide some big stuff in there. So you end up reading through everything and yeah, it kills the pace a bit.

So now that I've actually played the AWE DLC, I love that Control appears to be just an episode of Night Springs written by Alan

Definitely an "egg or chicken" situation

Just need to get the 100 ability point trophy and then I'm done. Much more enjoyable on a second play through. The collectibles were just overkill on a first run. Too many and they interrupted the gameplay far too much.

Wait. What. Is that what the DLC says?

There were several Night Spring script collectibles that were scenes between Darling and Trench. I inferred that means Alan wrote the whole thing, or at least key components, into existence.

Interesting, that wasn't my take on it but I can see that angle!

Decided to give this a go thanks to being on ps+. I know absolutely nothing about it apart from having seen about a second of footage where it looked like infamous or something.

A couple of hours in and I have no idea what the strawberry float is going on

I'm in a furnace trying to stop a generator blowing up or something. Just got the dash dodge thing. Seems good so far though.

Should I be bothering to read the collectibles? I don't normally bother but I feel I might be missing stuff.

The collectibles flesh out the world quite well and I enjoyed them but you're certainly not going to miss anything critical to actually playing the game.

I thought this was a solid enough game but with some more polish and tweaks it could have been something really special.

I'll give them a look, if I find them boring then I'll just skip them.

It's a daft thing to say, but this reminds me of playing a pc game. It's got that kind of feeling where you have a very detailed environment that you don't tend to get too often on consoles (I know it's on pc too btw). I can't really explain it beyond that.

There's some strange stuff just hidden away that it could do with telling you about, like extra missions on the rest area bits which I found purely by accident. Same with upgrading abilities, it was there and I only just found it this morning.

I'd explore a lot, like you say it doesn't necessarily direct you toward everything and there are some really useful upgrades that you wont get (or won't get until later) if you don't have a poke about
