From everything I'm hearing this sounds like SCP the game.

Am I the only one who used to read that site religiously then not sleep for a few nights?

I think it will be playable from 1100 on the Epic Store, Winckle - source.

Like literally. MINOR, MINOR MINOR world building detail below:

It's set in a building called The Oldest House that sat invisible for thousands of years before it chose to reveal itself to a group of people. It's now home to the Federal Bureau of Control which is, for all intents and purposes, the SCP.

Thanks Jawa. You interested in this one? I'm not sure, it's a crowded release calendar right now!

It does look interesting, Winckle, but yeah... the game schedule seems to be a little crazy right now! I'm not meant to be getting games at the moment but I fell for a Switch gaming offer this week so definitely gotta hold off now.

Having listened to the Waypoint podcast episode on this I think I'm sold. It's a Remedy ass Remedy game but strawberry float it sounds less like it's inspired by SCP than it is a realisation of it.

I like Remedy games. I like the look of this. I’m not buying it yet because I’m drowning in Game Pass.

So I grabbed this and am strawberry floating loving it.

It's the exact sort of goofy/straight faced supernatural nonsense I adore, full of vaguely worded conspiracies and inter-office memos about life as an admin worker in an agency dedicated to controlling powers from the beyond.

Also, one of the main characters is voiced by the Max Payne guy.

It's awesome.

EDIT: Reading some of CK's posts, I've had zero performance issues so far although it's the first time I've been unable to run a game on high at 1440p. Too slow and that's on a 1070. Luckily it has seperate options for resolution and rendering so I've found whacking the latter down to 1080 makes little visual difference whilst allowing for silky smooth performance.

Is this supposed to be available now on Epic Games Store then? Because my copy is saying 'Unavailable'.

EDIT - Just started working. Strange.

I'm on base PS4

And I'm enjoying it more as I go on.

Yeah, it's only available from Epic Games so I am refusing to buy it since they deleted my account and all my purchases without explanation. Hopefully it will come out on some other platform eventually.

Ah, makes sense. Like I say it's a challenge for my reasonable PC so yeah I can imagine it struggling on the PS4.

Man the combat is excellent in this. I was already fully onboard with the themeing so to find that the fighting is super fun is an great little extra.

Are you playing with a controller or mouse and keyboard?

I've just started downloading it and looks like it'll take around and hour. Is there a benchmarking tool included?

Controller. It's obviously made for it.

I tried mouse and keyboard but it felt awful. Which is a shame, because most games with shooting play better with a mouse. The auto-aim is pretty heavy handed to make up for it though.

It keeps getting better as you go through. I’m probably in the final third now and there’s some proper bonkers stuff. It’s great.

Can confirm that Ryzen 7 2700X, GTX 1080ti and 16GB of RAM is not enough to play it at 4k high settings.

I've literally only just started but I'm enjoying it a lot already. The combat is satisfying and the premise seems very Remedy which is fine by me.

Read stuff about the game, apparently if you want 60fps, you can't even do that on an RTX 2080. Looks like if you want to run at 30fps at 4k on High settings you'll need at least a 2080 Ti.

I put the rendering resolution down to 1080p, turned DXR on to Medium and the graphics card wasn't the limiting factor any more, I'm upgrading to a Ryzen 7 3700X this weekend, which should hopefully see the game run fine, might even opt for some 1440p DLSS to see what it looks like.
