...am I meant to understand the storyline at all by this point? Because so far, nope.

Not at that point, or any point during or after, really.

There are certainly specific details that remain unclear throughout (intentionally no doubt) but I don't think it takes too long to get the general gist of "what's going on" from a high level perspective

I quite like the ambiguity and willingness to leave some things without specific explanations, makes the world they have created feel larger than you as the player

It all made perfect sense to me.

Jesse's reasoning of why she's there makes sense pretty quickly. Some other things are less clear, but I think you're just expected to accept that due to the nature of the agency. It's also a great way to fudge having to write a more clear plot because writers often fail at turning their spark of an idea into a proper roaring success of a fire. (<See?)

It’s a quirky “Twilight zone” story that makes no sense but you like it. Or not.

I often saw the idea behind Control as a mix of X-Files and Warehouse 13.

edit: I know of Warehouse 13 in the loosest of ways. (Ads.) Never actually saw any eps and so I may be off on that.

Never saw Warehouse 13.

Imagine if they did a film adaption. A lot of people would probably go insane trying to work it out.

I'd rather watch a Control show than the one they did for the previous game.

Warehouse 13 was about finding supernatural objects and safely storing them.

Multiplayer spin-off. Sequel also in early development.

Not interested in a multiplayer spin-off but I'm full onboard for a Control sequel.

Nice, something to look forward to there :D

Given the lore and potential for powers in this there are actually some really interesting possibilities they could explore for multiplayer... which is why it will be so dull when it comes out exactly like every other multiplayer shooter in a Control skin :fp:

Surely it's a given that there will be a base holding mode call featuring 'Control points'

If there's going to be spin off game I'd much rather some kind of Just Dance game where you get to groove along with this banger:

They should have just set the whole of the game here. It could have been a paranormal take on the Mario 64 hub world.

There was a bit to that post which said panopticon and the quarry were my 2 favourite bits. (Quarry is over in the blink of an eye but it looks great.) And then I thought of all the other bits I loved playing through and deleted it  But yeah, lots of great sections in the game. I just wish they figured out a way to let us dwell in them a bit longer. Those optional board missions I guess were one way of doing that, but more side missions dealing with objects of power / helping Oldest House employees would have done a better job of immersing the player in its bizarre world.
