I find that to be unlikely...

I doubt that covered the cost of Control's development...

But it's $9million they wouldn't have had otherwise, and being on Epic means they're getting a bigger percentage of sales than Steam. And you've got the console releases.

As I mentioned, sales figures aren't the be all end all of success metrics any more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on Control I just would like to see some more Alan Wake and continue to hope Remedy bring him back at some point, so when I read that Remedy's latest IP is a flop alarm bells start ringing.

Had a quick look and it looks like Control didn't make the top 20 games in August in terms of sales...

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2019/09 ... misses_out

BUT...it did release on August 27th. And we haven't had September's data yet.

So who knows! Hope yet.

It amounts to an extra 172,952.7 sales that those reports you are talking about may not have taken into account.

Difficult to judge these reports having not seen them.

Shame because Control was a damn fine game and Alan Wake seems likely to be involved in the last DLC/Expansion for the game (AWE)

Rinsed this over the last weeks (base PS4 - and yep you can see the performance issues)

Thought the world it was set in was far more interesting than the fairly so so story it told - but really enjoyed me time with it.

Combat doesn't overly change throughout - but it's so satisfying that it never dragged. Launch

Pretty close to Platinium been to get all abilities I'd need to kill Dr Tosmassi (and he can strawberry float off) and a sidequest that bug (one the 6 old friends won't spawn). Boo

Tomassi can get in the strawberry floating sea. Incredibly frustrating fight.

Not only that there're multiple Hiss around him z including one of those invisible screamer things.

I didn't ever kill him. Nobody got time for that.

The invisible hiss things are a right strawberry floating pain. They basically one shot you. Like the strawberry floating plant counts in Resi.

The checkpoints in this are really bad.

Putting you back to the last control point rather than the start of a boss battle when it kills you is a really bad design decision.

Got this from the PS Plus Double Discount sale.

It's very weird. Even I'm gawping at how big the main character's chin is. :slol:

She seems to be a bit flat in terms of personality. The story is absolutely weird but considering how they appoint the main character as a director of an agency out of the blue so I'm not surprised really.

Got Clearance Card 1, defeated the first "boss." It's definitely very metroidvania.

Jesus Christ, the map in this is horrible. End up going round in circles trying to get to an area related to the story.

Finished with all side quests completed.

Loving the Alan Wake nod. Hope that means more of Alan Wake.

Some niggling flaws, the biggest one belongs to the map. Maybe it would be better if it was in 3D. Checkpoints could be a lot better. Launch is too powerful and end up used more than I did for weapons.

7/10

Have to agree, especially with the launch, it's a bit like having infinite sticky grenades.

Never really had a problem with the map though. Especially since there are signs everywhere.

I enjoyed the ending but it did feel a bit like sequel bait.
