My god this game does not shut the strawberry float up. I don’t know if it’s part of the theming, government agency being overwhelmed in paperwork kind of thing, or if it’s just in love with it’s own world. But it really seems to try and test the players patience with notes to pickup and dialogue that just goes on and on and on and on.

Ive been skipping all that gooseberry fool. No idea what is going on mind.

I'm loving this so far, despite the below negatives:

- the map is strawberry floating useless and it's difficult to know where I'm supposed to go
- having to constantly stop to read documents or listen to audio files
- the fact that the story is a complete rip off of The Lost Room TV show. Seriously, I don't know how they've managed to get away with this.

It's such a great feeling game though. So smooth and the combat is really satisfying. It's also really stylish. Writing is hammy as ever but I find that to be part of the Remedy charm at this point.

Despite my plan to play this with the ray racing bells and whistles, 60 FPS has such a profound effect on visual quality I’m going to be sticking with that.

Completed the AWE dlc, pretty bland all in all and slightly annoying with the amount the game tries to get to stop and listen to it’s lore. Started to feel fairly routine.

Also its very annoying that the entire game + all side missions + one of the dlcs + all side missions doesn’t earn you enough upgrade points to unlock the trophy for it.

And that’s the Platinum, made it right after getting 97% on the PS4 version before my console shat the bed.

I’m loving this. Completely invested in the crazy world building and lore, genuinely look forward to reading all the documents etc. Can imagine it being a chore if that aspect doesn’t gel with you though.

It gels with me but by note 200 the abnormal is feeling very boring. They'd have been much better keeping it paired back.

I like it. I think it helps the pacing, going through a heavy action sequence etc before settling down to read some context about the situation you are in and some background on some items / people.

It’s a lazy way to tell any story if you need to pick through loads of files and audio recordings. I’m convinced games have them in for filler only, just because everyone else has ‘collectibles’.

I would agree in most instances, but here (as weird video files or heavily edited notes) i think they make sense.

I struggle to focus on dialogue etc if i am actively trying to participate in solving a puzzle or winning a shoot out etc, so i would rather get taken out of the experience entirely so i can properly consume the content.

Clearly i am in the minority on this one, but dont assume it doesnt serve a valid way of telling smaller non-critical stories in a tricky medium like videogames. I wouldn't want an extra 5 hours of cut scenes.

Nothing wrong with some extra, well-written lore on top of the main story. It's entirely optional if you can't be arsed reading or listening to it all.

I'm loving the game but I'm very interested to see if a second run, having already read all the lore, will be more or less enjoyable. It'll depend on just how good the combat really is. At the moment, in short bursts, it feels great.

Also very happy to see Poets of the Fall still being included in these games

Combat seems ok to me, but its quite one dimensional. If you have energy use launch as its practically OHK. If not its standard weapon selection stuff. The weapons feel good though, and headhots feel rewarding.

I remember QB's combat being better, but i am much prefering the tone of Control.

I’m enjoying the combat. Although it does cheat you at points. I’ve had stuff spawn on me for ohk. There is a good variety of enemies too.

I don’t find that I have to switch weapons though. I find the basic weapon best for all scenarios. Others just have too many compromises. The effects are nice with crumbling environments, stuff flying about, breaking glass etc.

Yeah the destructible environment physics really is mind blowing to me. There is so much going on at any one time. I can see why it’s so resource intensive now I’m playing it.

Just unlocked levitation :D

If I fail one more single attempt alert, I might just give up on them completely. Haven't managed to complete one yet :|

I cant be arsed with those. Too close to time pressure for my liking. What do they unlock out of interest?

Just mods and more of the currency for upgrades (I forget the name) I think. They don't give Ability Points or anything.

Excellent, i will continue to disregard them.

Question for anyone who knows-

I have unlocked the mod rarity thing (increases rarity of weapon mods). Does this apply to drops in game, or only to when i purchase a mod / recycle a mod? I dont think its a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but i always like to know things like this.

The "Agency Alert" things are just annoying I find, especially as they compound the map/layout issues and derail the main thread too much.

It's a game where finding your way around is already harder than it should be because of the crap map so sending me back to a completely different part of the agency on a time limit to try and kill some baddies just means I'll probably spend half of my time looking for a lift to take me to the right level and trying to find where I'm going, probably running out of time to do challenge and then being lost trying to get back to where I was supposed to be for the bloody story!
