Yeah, we use the Bradford thing as well. It's gooseberry fool, although my bosses have the common sense to send people home if they come in really ill. They don't penalise on it.

UK still negotiating 'difficult issues' over delayed evacuation
The UK government still has “difficult issues” to negotiate with the Chinese authorities over a flight to evacuate British nationals from Wuhan, the city at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak, a minister has said.
The Foreign Office has said the flight will not now take place on Thursday as the government had hoped.
Nick Gibb, the School Standards Minister, told Sky News:
“There are some difficult issues that are being negotiated at very senior levels between the British Government and the Chinese government.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety and welfare of British nationals in Wuhan and ensure they do return to the UK as soon as possible.”
Gibb said the plan was for them to be taken to an “NHS facility” on their return, where they would be kept for 14 days to make sure that they do not have symptoms of the virus.
“It (the flight) is certainly coming to a military base in the UK and then the British nationals will go to the NHS facility for 14 days of quarantine,” he said.

Just been checking back through our HR system for my absences from the last few years. We don't have the Bradford Factor or any of that gooseberry fool but thought it would be interesting to look at how I would have fared under the setup Moggy described.
Looking at data from 2012 until last year I was generally pretty good, average of 3.6 days absence per year, with occurrences being just over 3... although that is only true if you remove the outlier data for 2018 where it seems I managed to have 13 days absent across 6 occurrences!
Where do I collect my P45 from?

I think my company would actually murder you if you had anywhere near as high a score as that.

Well I always like to try and exceed any targets that are set for me.

I don't think I'd have any recorded absences from work since I started here (Dec 2018) other than Compassionate Leave.
Not to say I haven't been ill, but the ability to WFH with laptops means whenever I've felt rough I've logged in from the sofa/the bed. It's a blessing and a curse really. It means people rarely soldier on in the office when ill, but on the other hand, when you're ill, you feel an obligation to power on at home when you should be recovering.

We don't have the option to work from home so you're in either in the office and working or you are at home sick. I'd much rather take the day or two needed to get over something, and avoid bringing others down with it, than "soldier on" in the office.
Those 2018 numbers were from when I first started getting sciatica - 9 of the 13 days were taken when I was suffering with that. I tried to go back in to work twice during the middle of it as well which resulted in that 9 days being across 3 occurrences rather than 1.
Fortunately our work is great and they just told me to go home and get better. Thank strawberry float we don't use gooseberry fool like Bradford!

From next week we should have the option to work from home which might make the Bradford bullshit less relevant. Although the head of department here has refused to confirm that we will be allowed to work from home so who knows.

Working from home is great, I get so much more done because you avoid continuously getting interrupted and sidetracked. Obviously that’s part of the job and you can’t spend the whole week at home but the odd day or two makes a huge difference for me.

That's the Bristol Stool Scale. Makes sense, because Bristol is gooseberry fool.
