If the dickhead government didn't know about the asymptomatic nature of the virus then how the strawberry float did I?! One of the first things I heard about it on the radio (back when it was sweeping through China and neighbouring countries) was how dangerous it was due to the very fact you could have it and be spreading it but you may not show signs of having it until much later down the line. (That and it infected a lot more people during its lifespan than a flu virus.) I mean... wtf. This bunch of bastards are so infuriatingly bad at lying.

Surely the whole point of locking the country down in March 2020 was to restrict asymptomatic transmission. If this bollocks they're spreading is taken as gospel then I'm done with this country.

Unfortunately it will be as people are stupid, don't pay attention to detail, are blind to things that go against their beliefs and political affiliations.

It was known that it could be asymptomatically transmitted right from the start. All viruses can be. There's zero reason why covid would have been any different.

Or not possibly, one would imagine this includes an estimate of people who have had it but never knew about it!

The other ~10 will be right.

I'm probably in the 10% category on the basis that I had weekly PCR tests from June 2020 for 12 months as part of the Oxford AZ trial and blood work taken more recently as part of the Moderna trial that I joined last month.

Covid got me finally! Oh well, don't feel too unwell, could be worse. Actually coughing less than normal as I've not smoked for a week.

...snap!

Got covid. I saw a mate earlier this week who was clearly under the weather... found out today that he has covid and, feeling a bit below par myself, I've just taken a test. 'Rona confirmed.

I visited my parents last night, too. Strawberry float.

All the best, both of you, I'm just off the back of it and it was pretty rough. Still exhausted after about 1pm.

Jawa - don't stress about this. I was in the room with an 11-month-old baby at a point where I have no doubt that I was infections, for three hours. Two weeks later and neither baby nor mum and dad has picked anything up. As long as you've taken the usual precautions and not sat in between them or anything there is a good chance they'll be OK. Fingers crossed for them.

I seem to have picked up the exhaustion/fatigue part of covid more than any other symptoms. I’ve been testing negative since late last week but am absolutely knackered all the time. Walked for a while at the weekend and had to lie down for ages when I got home.

And working is mentally taxing - it’s marking season at the moment so I wasn’t really able to take time off over the last fortnight, but tasks that would normally take a few minutes are still tiring me the strawberry float out. I don’t like this.

Sounds very similar to what I had.

I found the only thing you can do is rest when you feel need to because pushing through it just makes it worse.

Dang, that does sound to be pretty rough. It's strange how it affects different people in different ways; my mate is still going to work and he says it feels like he just has a mild cold whilst I've been barely sleeping, with a high temperature and body aches. Luck of the draw, I guess.

Yesterday afternoon I'd thought I was getting a bit better.

Last night and today I feel like cack. I'm just not sleeping and I have the energy of a tired sloth. It's day four and I took another covid test; still a strong positive.

I feel like I need a power-up so I'm gonna have a coffee and a biscuit.

Both me and my wife have escaped it so far. Well ... at least as far as we are aware. I was convinced I would pick it up while doing the West Highland Way last week, since there were a good number of international hikers congregating in pubs and restaurants at the end of each day. No signs yet though.

I'm still wearing a mask most places, but I'm finding it's getting a bit pointless to wear them in pubs and restaurants. I was in a shopping centre picking up a few last minute things a couple of weeks ago. Including staff I saw a grand total of about 9 people wearing masks

It's the unknown long-term symptoms I'm more worried about rather than the initial infection

I've been pretty lucky, I only felt proper naff for a couple of days, and then either side of that was tired but not too bad. No fever, no cough, just cold symptoms really. Annoyingly still testing positive though so although I feel fine, and have done for a few days, I'm missing all the things I had planned this week, and some important stuff at work. BUT it could be much worse, just pleased its been so mild.

That's good Red, hopefully you get to negative tests soon enough.

I've yet again hit a point this afternoon of having to go and lie down at about 2pm. Three weeks in and the fatigue part isn't lifting at all. It's absolute murder, and I'm really lucky I've got a job that allows for 99% working from home.

The gooseberry fool thing about the fatigue is that if I am slow for any reason money just burns away and there's no salary or even SSP on that.

After 2 infections I only just about feel I have my normal lung/blood oxygen respiratory rate or whatever back. Coming up to a year soon.

It is grim and I do understand it.
