I’ll be going for my booster as soon as I can, can’t remember when I had my second mind

Hospitality is going to be decimated I expect. Events being cancelled left right snd centre.

But as long as it’s not the government position you should cancel they don’t have to provide any support!

Yeah they’re playing the game where they don’t want to be seen as doing the wrong thing, yet again :fp: Hospitality is going to take a huge hit with no proper guidelines to follow. Not every sector will be hit hard, even with nearly 4 weeks to go till Christmas I’ve seen a reasonable increase for items in general where I work, think a lot of people are worried with the articles a while back (that still pop up every so often) about food shortages and the like and might well be buying early to try and avoid such problems.

Anyone else secretly hoping for a limited Christmas this year? I know it sucks for people who haven't seen their close family for a while but I quite enjoyed having a dodge for social gatherings with colleagues and fringe friends/family members. We did see my parents on Christmas Day (on their orders!) and met up a few days later for a day out to Chatsworth which was really nice.

Not that I needed an excuse to do nothing on NYE though. That night can sod off.

I've definitely became more reclusive since covid, but there's no way id actively wish for more restrictions on my life. That can gtfo.

Yeah, it took a whole lot of pressure off me last year so on a very personal level a limited Christmas would be good.

Popped into Lidl last night to pick up a few things. Wasn't particularly busy, but everyone bar most the staff was wearing a mask.

I see we’ve ordered extra Pfizer and moderna doses, 114 million in fact to cover the next 2 years.

Mask use has shot right back up on my trains since the rule change. One of the few people I saw not wearing one was still wearing a poppy. How utterly unsurprising .

Clearly more important to remember people who are already dead than it is to stop more people dying!

Argh. Meant to be seeing Electric Six and Alestorm on the 10th and 11th. Don't bugger this up Boris.

On that note mask wearing in town for me was pretty much 50/50. Everyone under 35 I'd say didn't bother and wasn't being challenged. But it's Chatham so the general iq level is that of a damp newspaper. The kind of idiots that quote 'common law' while going to collect their dole and weed.

Way more people wearing masks around town and in shops than this time last week. Clearly these mandates do work for the vast majority of people.

The British public have been extremely receptive to Gov restrictions. A more proactive Governement would have saved a lot of lives over this pandemic.

I popped out earlier and it was really noticeable how many are now wearing masks again.

I haven't noticed a major change in mask wearing, but then I don't think it ever dropped off as much around here as it seemed to elsewhere based on what people were reporting in this thread.

But yeah the general point still stands that people, by and large, have adhered to guidance when it has been clear - if this government had been more consistent and responsive in issuing guidance then we would almost certainly have seen a better outcome from the last 2 years.
