The absolute state of travelling abroad at the moment.

Mask usage - Jesus strawberry floating Christ :dread: UK (gatwick), both plane journeys and the airport overseas, I'd say people using them correctly were very much in the minority. Most were chin guards, under the nose, or under the jaw. No enforcement anywhere. When we got off the plane over there, we went down the stairs to the immigration hall, to be met with it say easily 2 thousand people jammed in one space. Utter strawberry floating anxiety nightmare. People were pushing, standing against each other, and mask usage was worse, with most taking them off entirely. Just awful, how we didn't get covid there I'll never know. If there's a sports direct variant, it was born in that room. 2 HOURS we were in that room because they had minimal staff on the desks.

Document checks - all the documents we had to fill out for both sides, at no point where they checked AT ALL. Nothing. Just staggering.

Genuinely forgot my mask this morning, now I'm sat on the train, squeezed in with a lot of masked passengers, looking like a right old gammon :slol:.

Booster dose done. :toot:

Tineash wrote:How are people getting their boosters? The website still won't let you book one earlier than 5 months after a 2nd dose, so are y'all going to walk in centres? Or are you all just very very old & eligible normally?

The subreddit GetJabbed is very handy for finding walk in places not arsed about going down by age groups.

I found this topic last night:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GetJabbed/comments/r88cu5/walkin_booster_london_guys_hospital

And I'm now in the walk-in queue for a booster jab and didn't get asked my age. The queue is up to an hour though!

Went to Spain recently and that country was pretty proactive in checking stuff. Came back via the Republic of Ireland and it was non existent. Nothing was checked bar my passport. Genuinely thought I'd missed a checkpoint for it.

So long as it's the next named variant, we can chant "Who all caught the Pi?"

Republicans letting Covid kill off their voter base since rather than votes they'd rather have all the poor people die

Another big tick for the James M Buchanan school of libertarian conservative economics.

Mad how different countries deal with this. Masks kept mandatory here and 50% indoor capacity only allowed and we are the most vaccinated population in Europe!?

Hope this Omicron is less deadly…

It’s certainly interesting to see the different takes. But Boris cured covid last summer so we don’t have none of that gooseberry fool here! :toot:

First data seems to suggest it’s less deadly however spreads far easier. So I’m expecting uk rates to skyrocket soon.
