There's a strawberry floating surprise. I'm wondering having they tested the mixing and matching of vaccines as well.

So an update on my previous employer I finished at 2 weeks ago

After finishing on the Friday I got a notification on the Tuesday I had to isolate until the following Monday
It was clearly from someone at work though I was confident I had not been near anyone
I never got symptoms and neither did my wife

Anyway Covid was starting to go through the building before this with a small group of people getting it and after a few weeks more people getting it
In my last week as it was spreading it took them until the Wednesday to close the building so it could be fogged and we return to work the next day
Later that week more people test positive
People at home isolated who had the app who were told
People who were in same team as people who had tested positive but did not have the app carried on going to work (probably because they said we were covid secure)
Person without the app ended up being positive
They keep telling people to turn the app off as they are covid secure
About 13-15 people have tested positive since
Yesterday Public Health England got involved (I'm guessing someone reported them?)
Shut the building down
Everyone got tested and if positive they can't return to work until they are negative

This situation was getting worst for more than two weeks and the idiots kept putting there heads in the sand and ignoring it telling staff they were Covid secure and getting people to go into work

I mean the CEO works from home but our department are not allowed to work from home while other parts of the business do I mean they have just taken on a bunch of new staff and the training team are training them from home remotely. WTF!!!!!!

It really makes me angry that they are forcing people to work and have literally done zero planning and know half of the department (the other half is up north who also go into the office) are off with the same amount of work to do!!!!!!!

I don't understand why considering the government are making it clear that lockdown in its current capacity is not going anywhere until likely Easter at the earliest why are they not just going to give the second doses to the top 4 priority groups before they move onto the next phase instead. There's less rush now to get the vaccine out to as many people as possible. Their theory originally was this could end lockdown earlier. If you are now keeping everyone in longer just do it properly now.

Health worker. Well social care. I work with adults who have autism and challenging behaviour. strawberry floating lockdown is no fun for us, but for my service users with autism..... :dread:
1/10 people will get a head ache, slight fever and a dead arm. I was that 1/10. Feel better today though. They said they would contact me when I get the second jab!

Yes but I guess you also still need to proceed at pace and vaccinate as many as possible as it is still a race against infection and death. The mixed messaging from scientists, and then the reporting of what they are saying is an absolute disaster though. I'm certainly no expert, but I read that report about the new strain yesterday, and they have only detected which strain for 8% of deaths. To me that suggests it is far too early to make the kind of statement Boris did yesterday.

My mum and dad (mid 70s) are getting the first jab of the vaccination right now. London was lagging behind - compared to other areas of the UK - in giving vaccinations but it seems like this is improving now.

The injection site discomfort for a day or two is quite common and seems worse than this year's flu jab. Me, my boss and my wife all got it with the Pfizer one. I also got a different side effect where my hands went really hot and red the evening after. I used my thermometer and my hands were hotter than my arms. It could be to do with my excema.

gooseberry fool like this just cracks me up

Sri Lanka's health minister, who endorsed herbal syrup to prevent Covid, has tested positive for the virus.

Pavithra Wanniarachchi tested positive on Friday, a media secretary at the Ministry of Health told the BBC.

She had promoted the syrup, manufactured by a shaman who claimed it worked as a life-long inoculation against the virus.
