Yep self isolate for 14 days, keep an eye on symptoms and ring 999 if you experience difficulty breathing. As far as I'm aware anyway.

It's only ten days (from the onset of any symptoms) for the individual who tests positive. For anyone in their household or bubble it's fourteen days.

So if you come back from a country on the quarantine list, and test negative, how come it's 14 days isolation and not 10 days in line with a positive test?

The false negative rate of tests is high before the onset of symptoms, so testing negative on return doesn't guarantee you are actually not infected.

When you've come back from a quarantine list nation (or equivalently if a household member gets ill), you're waiting 14 days to see if you develop symptoms.

When you've had a positive test, you're waiting 10 days for the infection to end.

They are different isolation periods with different reasons behind them. If you develop symptoms while isolating after travel, you should begin a fresh isolation period of 10 days from the day of onset.

Not really been keeping up with the foreign travel rules as I'm not planning on going abroad. My bet is that if you test negative you may potentially still be a carrier but be in a phase undetectable to the swab test, and may develop symptoms on day 13 (and therefore are infectious on days 10, 11 and 12). If you test positive with or without symptoms they know more precisely that you (a) are infectious and (b) how long you will be infectious for.

Although it's late and there may be holes in my logic

Yeah, that's it. You could have a negative test on Day 7 while the infection is still taking root, then finally develop symptoms (and presumably test positive) on Day 14, and then need to continue your isolation until Day 24.

Look guys, all they're saying is that while not everyone who like a mask is a child molester, all child molesters like masks.

Not all of them though. In a street survey of child molesters, it was shown that I fact 3 out of 10 prefer to use a simple novelty plastic glasses with a mounted nose and moustache.

It's my grandmother's birthday soon. I guess the whole family can get together if we go grouse shooting.

Cheers Boris!

LBC are reporting there are no tests available in any of the top 10 Covid hotspots in the UK. :fp:

The incompetence of this government is the main reason why we have this rule of 6. This has to be unprecedented, where the incompetence of a government has led to them having to curtail civil liberties for an unspecified time.
