I can't speak for that guy, but at the very start of the pandemic I don't think many people took it very seriously. We'd had plenty of pandemic scares before (SARS, swine and bird flu etc) that didn't lead to a widespread health disaster for the entire country.

It wasn't until just before we went into the first lockdown that I realised just how serious this one was, I just thought it'd fizzle out quickly like the other pandemics in our lifetimes.

My first post in that thread is responding to Moggy, who was talking about the Bradford scale.

What an utterly boring bastard I am

Not that we could have known at the time, but I remember the first lockdown and a lot of people thinking it would be for a week. If only!

It didn't help that when it was spreading out of control in March 2020 (and muggins here headed straight into the epicentre), we were being told that there were only around 30-40 confirmed cases in the entire country.

I remember arguing with someone at work telling them this wasn't going away (this was while Italy was in chaos)

I also remember arguing with someone telling them cases would go up again once we came out of lockdown which seemed super obvious to me.

Finally got Covid after managing to avoid it so far. What a pain.

From checking the current guidance it seems the advice is to get out there ASAP and carry on as normal.

A person at my Mum’s work has also got Covid. Doesn’t bode well that people are beginning to get it again during the Summer season.

 .

I hope that you're feeling a bit better now, Lime. Covid barely gets mentioned now but it does feel like cases are on the increase; I know of three people living near me who have it at the mo'.

I don't think there are plans for over 50s to get a jab this autumn, either; I believe it's 75+ (and those with serious health conditions).

It's over 65s, clinically vulnerable, and those who have enough money to spend on private vaccines that'll be getting any booster this year. Covid is definitely in the middle of a big wave. A load of people at work have come down with a 'summer cold' over the last few weeks and at least two people who have bothered to test for Covid came back positive.

Just tested positive for the 2nd time (1st time was 18 months ago)

Looks like I caught it on holiday so at least that wasn't ruined.

I feel absolutely awful and think this feels worst than the first time at the moment.

I’m boostered up now, and I can feel the side effects slithering in. It’s going to be a weekend of it.

Yeah I had a pretty rough day & night the next day. Usual effects, shivers, headache.

Also, my arm hurt like strawberry float this time. I swear some health staff don't quite put in the exact right spot or something. I've had them before and only had mild soreness.

Got my booster last week and suffered nothing more than a sore arm.

I was OK with previous boosters, but this one’s feeling like the original dose, which really knocked the heck out of me. I didn’t think to ask which vaccine I was being given.

Had my booster (my sixth) earlier in the week. They gave me my flu jab at the same time which made sleeping that night uncomfortable as both my arms were sore.

Got my COVID and flu jabs at the end of last week. Only real side effect was arm pain. I tend to find that the flu jab hurts more at the time of injection but doesn't really hurt after that, but the Covid jab isn't too bad upon injection but aches for far longer.

I'm booked in for a flu jab in late October (the soonest appointment the chemist had available), but i'm not getting a covid one this time (i'm not in an eligable group for a free one, plus the last one gave me some horrendous side effects).

How are you getting covid boosters?

I had a flu jab a few weeks back but wasn't aware of any booster programme.

Presumably it's at your cost or that of your employer.
