Thankfully, the vaccine did it's job and i was only symptomatic for around 4 days and it definitely wasn't as severe as when i had it last year.

Took a while to bounce back though as the tiredness and fatigue afterwards has been really quite something, only now am i starting to properly get my energy back.

I was thinking of seeing BMTH at the O2 on Sunday but think I'm still a little too paranoid to do it. Place is a near sell out.

FFS got pinged by the app this afternoon and due to go on holiday Saturday to Bath before heading to Wales on Wednesday for the mother in law 60th.

Did a LFT straight away which was negative and booked a PCR slot for 30 minutes later.

The selfish part of me wanted to ignore it all but that didn't sit comfortable with me so I did the right thing even if it means I cant go away on Saturday.

England’s Covid travel rules spark outrage around the world

Refusal to recognise vaccines given across Latin America, Africa and south Asia has been denounced as ‘discriminatory’

Under the new rules, travellers fully vaccinated with Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen shots in the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea or an EU country will be considered “fully vaccinated” and exempt from quarantine when they arrive in England from an amber list country. But people who have been fully vaccinated with the same vaccines in Africa or Latin America, as well as other countries including India, will be considered “not fully vaccinated” and forced to quarantine for 10 days on arrival from an amber list country.

...

Asked to explain why vaccines administered in certain countries were acceptable but in others not, a government spokesperson said in a statement: “Our top priority remains protecting public health, and reopening travel in a safe and sustainable way, which is why vaccine certification from all countries must meet the minimum criteria taking into account public health and wider considerations.”

When I started reading that I was thinking "Oh they just aren't recognising certain vaccines like the SinoVac or the Russian one because they haven't been approved in the UK yet, that seems fine to me" but then it's just that they're refusing to recognise approved vaccines simply because they were administered in certain countries?
I can almost understand the point about it being the proof of vaccine status being an issue, but they need to clarify what makes those countries so different. Do they not have any kind of central database that can prove vaccine status?
But then does the USA? Or do they just have little hand completed cards too?

How can we possibly know if the witch doctor in bongo bongo land has administered the vaccine properly?!?! We're just being sensible!

Thankfully, the vaccine did it's job and i was only symptomatic for around 4 days and it definitely wasn't as severe as when i had it last year.

Took a while to bounce back though as the tiredness and fatigue afterwards has been really quite something, only now am i starting to properly get my energy back.

Hope you feel better. As for me I live here centrally now so I can only hope to be mega immune by the 2nd or 3rd time I catch it.

I'll definitely get a booster if/when offered. Fortunately my GP is 4 doors down, it's a 2 minute walk to the high street, I have basically no need to roam around but I do want to get involved with music again.

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this.

Fully vaccinated travellers from the USA arriving to the UK need to take a PCR test "On or before Day 2", but does that also include the day they arrive? So for example my girlfriend is flying into Manchester Airport, and they have on-site Drive Through testing facilities. Could she get off the plane and then immediately go to the Drive Through facility for a PCR test? Or would that be too early?

The day you arrive is 'day 0' but I don't know if that means it's too early. I'd just do it though. Literally no one will check test time vs arrival time.
