Victoria had 723 new cases yesterday! This is despite being 3 weeks into a second lockdown and is the highest and deadliest day of COVID since the pandemic started in Australia.

They seem to think that the majority of people who are unwell or waiting for tests are going about their daily business and not isolating. It’s scary to watch.

Here in Adelaide, there has been a hard border closure with Victoria, with South Australians even being banned from coming home. In the run up to the border closure, a number of people have been trying to sneak in to avoid the lockdown and have been caught. The new cases we have had in the past two weeks have all been related to Victoria and thankfully isolated at the border/airport.

It’s worrying though, as I’m sure there are people who have snuck through and are in the community. It won’t take much to take us back a few steps

I will give them credit for the furlough scheme.... Then I'll take it back for the Priti "I'm sorry, if you feel sad" non apology.

Its been a farce, at every opportunity they've poorly performed as as a government and it makes England look ridiculous.

They do in the context of a government that refuses to take any responsibility.

Infections are up and they need to blame somebody. They just made a big song and dance about opening the pubs and restaurants and so must protect that decision.

So the narrative is "this is the public's fault for going to each other's houses! Stop meeting each other inside! The pub is fine though, viruses hate beer!".

Lol.

The blame game has started. And the willingly stooges are out defending that Hancock statement already.

While you can technically point at people for this issue, they are largely doing what the government tells them to do. Government told the public it was safe to do these things.

What film is that from? I absolutely recognise it but I just can't place it and it's doing my nut in.

It’s very simple

If you’re going round to someone’s house to be social that’s unacceptable risk of spreading the virus

If you’re going to the pub to spend money that’s totally fine.

Yes the logic is just utterly screwed. You can't mix with another household in your own home, but you can unintentionally mix with many other households in the local pub. If I lived in Greater Manchester, I wouldn't really know what to do as these rules don't sound like they would work at all in terms of controlling the spike.

I'm not saying it's targeted at Eid, but it looks like it is targeted at Eid.

The grim takeaway for me is, I don't think this virus can be controlled at all unless we have a prolonged period of full lockdown, perhaps 6 months or more, no international travel etc. Personally, I don't think I could do that, working full time, disabled wife, child to look after too. :(

So blatently targeting Eid celebrations with the institutionalised racism.

Come Christmas there'll be zero restrictions in place whatsoever. Even if there's a second wave and flu pandemic.
