I’ve got a lads night out booked away in the middle of August. Even though I watched some of the Euros in a bar (that very suddenly descended into chaos of distancing) before the restrictions lifted I’m in two minds about it.

I’ll have had my second jab of the vaccine two weeks beforehand, I’m around the public everyday at work & not really phased at all. But I don’t know.

Heading to another city, in bars without distancing, masks and such, just feels weird given the past year and I don’t know if it’s me being a bit nervous about it or just being daft.

Was he vaccinated?

Anyone got any holidays planned? I might fly to Italy or Spain. Or keep it simple and just get the eurostar to France if the airports are playing up with long queues.

I was hoping to get to the US in September to visit my girlfriend but the announcement this morning that they aren't yet planning to ease restrictions for UK travellers has made that pretty much impossible now I think.

I think US citizens can still come to the UK for holidays though so hopefully she can at least come here.

We are getting 100 quid to spend in shops through an economic recovery scheme. Health minister has came out and said he is considering whether it should be restricted to the double vaccinated. Seriously hope that happens, just for the whinging

I actually got paid the £500 self isolation support grant so I've been compensated for contracting this gooseberry fool, which is at least something. And very necessary since I'm moving and with that on top of work, stress wise I've barely been capable of doing anything at work and it doesn't make sense to be taking on work with long lead times if I'm moving everything by the time I'd be expected to deliver it.

Don't seem to have got covid again after moving some things to Brighton though which is good.

I'm just going to pretend this is a mini SEISS grant and the rules for that have changed for next round, so may look into that too. Good thing as I poured another 1.5 grand into laser etching a few months ago. Moving house is hopefully the last spanner in the works and people should be more willing or able to collect things from me with less restrictions.

Don't think many people least of all ministers understand the affect this disaster has had on new or growing businesses as well as the massive ones that all hit the headlines when they go tits up, there are many more thousands of tiny businesses made of up individuals that bring in even a few grand; it makes a difference to their income and wellbeing and those are jobs disappearing if can't make ends meet.

I'm glad because I was half expecting the council to declare that I was basically making my business up which of course I'm not (I provided all the paperwork). They'll try anything these days.

My work colleague and friend has yet to return to work after his severe case of Covid (was air lifted to London from Glos at the time). He's been in to see us a few times and is in good spirits and is keen to return, but his lung capacity is what's stopping his return to work. Understandable of course. I do miss working with him though, top chap.

I have a colleague who booked some three week hiking trip in the states later this morning. Obviously he’s not allowed to fly from the U.K. so he spent weeks trying to workout where he can work from for two weeks prior so he can fly to the states from there direct. Ended up going to Antigua. So he’s working from a hotel there for two weeks, and hopefully he won’t catch covid in the meantime.

Guarantee it'll be all the rubbish shops or they'll make them for shop brands that have already shut down or something.

Even with the usual Tuesday spike, cases are still lower today than yesterday which is a really good sign. Highest death number in a while though, well over the triple digits figure.

I think Step 3 + Euros must have had a serious impact on the R number. Step 4 impact should show up by the end of this week but what an unexpected week of reducing positive cases.

Haven't been on the tube since step 4, but the few times I've been Sainsburys, it seems to have had the vast majority of staff and customers wearing masks which I didn't expect.

Mostly good news. Perhaps people generally are being more careful than expected. Certainly not hearing as many ridiculous FREEEEEDOM stories as I was expecting. Would suggest many saw the clusterfuck coming and took their own actiom rather than just go mental.

And can I go on my holiday please thnx
