Anyone thick enough to think 5G causes corona should just be euthanised with a cattle gun. Their genes are a bigger threat to humanity than the god damn virus.

It's going to be needed until there is a vaccine, that was obvious the second the virus was shown to be so unbelievably easy to spread and how dangerous it is.

If we release lockdown and especially if kids go back to schools (where are they going to get teachers?) and big cities open again alongside businesses, thousands upon thousands more people are going to die. I realise they're going to want to hint that lockdown could be removed, but I genuinely don't see a realistic way to do it without sacrificing thousands of lives.

I'm not debating the need. When I saw the news last night I assumed it would blow up and be all social media but I haven't seen a single mention of it.

I think it means more we'll remain the restrictions in stores (but how you do this in say Primark is going to take time to work out and implement), potentially if cinemas re-open the same measures before they closed (rows blocked off, seats apart). I suspect schools will re-open in September, thing is for some university courses you can't do distancing (dance/drama/sports) so I'm not sure what happens there either.

The realist in me says that the lockdown will end at the cost of lives, primarily for the economy & because people won't stand for it much longer - this is why the government (if to be believed) held off measures as long as possible -it's the psychology behind it.

Clearly there's something expected in May

B&Q have reopened,
Costa have begun trialling opening drive thru/delivery stores
Factories are gearing up for May production LandRover/Aston Martin
Trains were told to expect more passengers in the middle of May (which was shot down in the briefing I think Monday..) - but there's clearly evidence suggesting changes coming in a more positive light.

Fireworks going off, pots banging, people outright screaming "Whooooo", cars driving down the road constantly honking their horns.

They're still going a few minutes later, like nobody dares stop first.

Yeah, properly strawberry floating stupid today. Someone letting off so much PYRO you’d think The Rock was about to come down the road, pots and pans banging, everyone currently outside for a chat, some bloke revving his engine like he’s reliving the glory days of Arena Essex...

Oh and how could I forget, a damn train horn coming from somewhere.

Barely anyone out clapping or banging pots or whatever today (central Southampton). Lots of noise from the cruise / cargo ship horns, which is a nice weekly touch, but I feel like the novelty of this shiteathon has worn off here now. Strong Labour area, mind.

My cats have been more terrified by the sudden outbursts of clapping etc every week than they've ever been with fireworks on bonfire night.

I feel like it's finally dying off here too. We did have one twat playing the drums, but very little clapping and - crucially - no fireworks.

There was a guy flailing around with a pan in an upstairs flat opposite, and our neighbours to the right were doing it (but she is a single mum with 3 young kids who told me she is just desperate to find things for them to do for five minutes).
