Yep, we should be judged much more harshly because we had the chance to handle this so much better than we have

We are a shitty little trash island poisoned terribly by a misguided sense of self-importance.

Also being an island we should have had an easier time locking down.

To be fair to San Marino, their per million count can't really be compared due to them being such a small country.

Virus lockdown tightened for separate households meeting indoors in Greater Manchester, east Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire

Separate households will be banned from meeting indoors from midnight tonight in Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire after a rise in coronavirus cases.

In Lancashire, the order covers Pendle, Hyndburn, Burnley, Rossendale and Blackburn with Darwen.

In Yorkshire, it applies to Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the move was part of "immediate action" to keep people safe.

"The spread is largely due to households meeting and not abiding to social distancing," he said.

"So from midnight tonight, people from different households will not be allowed to meet each other indoors in these areas.

"We take this action with a heavy heart, but we can see increasing rates of COVID across Europe and are determined to do whatever is necessary to keep people safe."

The key bit with these local lockdown/restrictions is people actually following them. If they don’t we’ve no one else to blame but ourselves.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Notice how it's our fault, as usual? Not the strawberry floating useless guidelines, but the people who failed to understand them?

We saw it for weeks ahead as well. I was complaining to my bosses about going to London every day before it even got super bad in italy. As soon as it hit italy it was only a matter of time until it hit here and we did strawberry float all.

Can't get sweet sweet tax from people meeting in their homes.

I highly doubt the spread up north is down to people having visitors in their homes. It's not like you can fit 100 people into No 9.

This lockdown makes absolutely no sense given pretty much anything goes when it comes to pubs and shops.
