Why should they when the same rules don't appear to apply to government officials?

I'd imagine local governments have had enough of the clearly inept main people's collective bullshit and have wisely decided to take matters in to their own hands.

I would have liked to see much more proactive action from local councils etc. to take matters into their own hands to overcome the government's lack of control over the pandemic and to put restrictions in place to protect their citizens.

Sadly the power lies very much in Westminster and the local areas simply don't have the funding and support to implement their own controls and funding schemes to protect jobs through any lockdown

I was a carer for nearly 8 years for my Mum, during that period I rarely went anywhere either. I think I just prefer being inside on my own. I'm not sure if that's why but I find myself more anxious when I go out for any reason and coronavirus upped that to 11. The amount of twats I see going by without masks and gooseberry fool it kinda made me feel better about being inside.

If your mental health is better with you doing your own thing inside then great. The only thing I'd be careful of is the physical impact and vitamin deficiencies etc. A walk a day even just for 10-20 minutes would make a big difference.

Any law brought in by Parliament cannot be vetoed by local authorities can it?

On a minor point, the emergency laws granted to the government do allow them to rule without consent as measures are not tied to votes in Parliament as far as I'm aware?

I didn't say they legally needed the consent of the people.

But in reality, there isn't much the government can do if vast swathes of the country ignore them. A dictatorship would send in the army to shoot people who don't comply, what can our government do? Especially when Cummings and the SNP MP have set a precedent that fines are meaningless.

It's weird but the same people I see saying things like that are the same people who were most vocal about clapping for the NHS a few months ago.....

We could hear our neighbour coughing through the wall all night last night and she's just invited a podiatrist into her home for her monthly foot thing. I just can't believe how selfish people are.

And again, this is the woman who patrolled the street to check which houses weren't clapping for the NHS.

I mean it could just be a cold, if it isn't a dry cough then it isn't a symptom so you would go for a test.
