Prime Minister unlawfully suspends parliament: "..."
Government mandates mask usage in public during a deadly pandemic: "It's like living in a dictatorship!"

I never left full lockdown either. I've only actually left my house 3 times in the last 6 months to go anywhere other than out to the bins which I do every few days.
Seriously? I'd have gone mad

I understand Scotland and Wales are self governing but Manchester should surely have to do what the UK government tells them?
We are not in a dictatorship and the government cannot rule without the consent of the people.
If the local government of Manchester fights back, there's not much the government can do in the short term.

Why should they when the same rules don't appear to apply to government officials?

I'd imagine local governments have had enough of the clearly inept main people's collective bullshit and have wisely decided to take matters in to their own hands.

I would have liked to see much more proactive action from local councils etc. to take matters into their own hands to overcome the government's lack of control over the pandemic and to put restrictions in place to protect their citizens.
Sadly the power lies very much in Westminster and the local areas simply don't have the funding and support to implement their own controls and funding schemes to protect jobs through any lockdown

Wife just got the nod she's a contact case: colleague she had lunch with last week has it.
Wuh-oh etc

I was a carer for nearly 8 years for my Mum, during that period I rarely went anywhere either. I think I just prefer being inside on my own. I'm not sure if that's why but I find myself more anxious when I go out for any reason and coronavirus upped that to 11. The amount of twats I see going by without masks and gooseberry fool it kinda made me feel better about being inside.

If your mental health is better with you doing your own thing inside then great. The only thing I'd be careful of is the physical impact and vitamin deficiencies etc. A walk a day even just for 10-20 minutes would make a big difference.

Any law brought in by Parliament cannot be vetoed by local authorities can it?
On a minor point, the emergency laws granted to the government do allow them to rule without consent as measures are not tied to votes in Parliament as far as I'm aware?

I didn't say they legally needed the consent of the people.
But in reality, there isn't much the government can do if vast swathes of the country ignore them. A dictatorship would send in the army to shoot people who don't comply, what can our government do? Especially when Cummings and the SNP MP have set a precedent that fines are meaningless.

Absolutely Jacob, they should stick with self-serving crony-capitalist charlatans who would never even dream of creating a hard border between constituent UK nations. Well, not for the benefit of the
public anyway...

Margaret Ferrier: Met Police to take no further action against Covid MP
Public getting fined, MPs get let off, keeps her job and pension.
And people wonder why so many people are ignoring the rules.
Cummings destroyed the original lockdown, this decision (as well as Stanley Johnson) will stop people following any further lockdowns.
Believe they've referred the case to the Scotland Police for their consideration.
Absolutely shocking she is still in a job

Boris Johnson doesn't give a gooseberry fool about the majority of his own kids, so why would he care about anyone else's?
the easy reply to this would be "yeah, its the governments job actually. oh wait..."
