If you search for "Cummings" on Twitter then it shows up, so it isn't just the profanity filter stopping his filthy sounding name.
It doesn't have to be a twitterati coverup, but there's something weird going on.
You can search for it, but it probably is profanity filter preventing words starting with “cum” in a trending Item
But if you search for "strawberry float" or "banana split" then it doesn't suggest anything. Whereas a search for "Cummings" does.
And words starting with "cum" do trend, it's only his full name (spelt correctly) that doesn't....
You are assuming they do trend, I don’t know of a word starting cum that has.
It could also be cumming is blocked, which is a pretty large proportion of the name.
So "cummimgs" can trend, "Cummings" comes up in a suggested search, but "Dominic Cummings" cannot trend?

Search and trends will have different rules. You can search for anything and it will show if you have the block naughty search’s disabled. But if you allowed people turn on or off naughty trends it would cause issues I guess so I would imagine all trends are subject to profanity filtering and if I was making a list cumming would be in the list of trends I’d prevent.
You are trying to see conspiracy in what is very much likely the result of a few if statements and wildcards.
You're wrong with the search. As I said "Cummings" comes up with suggested results , "strawberry float" doesn't.
I've not suggested there is a big conspiracy here either.
I get result for strawberry float, gooseberry fool, etc.
My point is the logic on searches and the logic on trends will be different and it’s the trend logic that is preventing the item, Whereas the search logic allows it.
If you are easily offended you won’t search for the bad words, but you don’t choose the trends you see as it is a snapshot of what people are tweeting so can’t really have profanity options and so it would be always prevented.
Just because it is visible one way doesn’t mean it show another, the code will be different and have different logic rules.
