It's hard to believe that a significant number of places are not already sending people back to work now. My commute was like a dream journey from end of March through to early June when it started to get more noticeably busier. Last couple of weeks it's almost entirely back to pre-lockdown levels of traffic during rush hour :dread:

A lot of our clients have gone back and I can't work out why. They've all been working perfectly fine from home.

That's true. My company has poured a lot of cash into getting our remote working system up and running to basically satisfy 90% of staff WFH. I have always been of the opinion that within the next 10-15 years WFH would be the standard as its better for the environment and will cut down on so many unnecessary car journeys. I think offices will end up like hubs, and you'll see meetings and things done in coffee shops which will help local businesses too.

If Covid achieves one positive, WFH and mass lifestyle changes to benefit the environment and boost local businesses, and also give a better quality of life, that would be something at least.

I think WFH has always been looked at with suspicion by a lot of employers. They've looked at it as people skiving and figured it wasn't worth the risk.

This virus has forced them to allow it and (for my company at least) they've seen that productivity hasn't dropped at all. On top of that, sickness is massively down.

They'd be mad to go back to how it was, to be fair it looks like my place are going to allow this to continue forever.

Same for both my 9-5, and the university I teach for. There's been no drop in productivity in my sector, and everyone is still getting through the same amount, if not more, work than they were previously. It's been fantastic for me.

I think it's fine as long as it can be a choice. I don't enjoy working from home the majority of the time so I would be annoyed to be told I had to long term if the virus situation had abated.

Yeah, my employers have very definitely not embraced WFH. I was doing 2/3 days from the start of May and now 5 days in the office for the time being. Things are relatively spaced out in terms of social distancing. Things like using hand sanitiser when entering a different room etc are still provided, but actual use is slipping away. The team I work in is one where my direct colleagues need to be on site for physical inspections of equipment / meetings about operations on the terminal, and my role is growing towards that too (e.g. need to hop out onto the docks to look at a ship or observe that crane driving is compliant with safety requirements etc). Also all of the people (senior management) I interact with on a daily basis are on site at all times too, so it becomes a little difficult to have meetings etc when you're the only one on Teams. I don't begrudge it, because as I live alone and all my social hobbies are suspended until further notice it gives me a chance to actually see and interact with other people, which I'm told is a good thing. I generally don't like working from home as my starting point cos my attention span is incredibly low and I find myself procrastinating far too much anyway.

Not sure what it's like in the rest of the country tonight but I have a family member in the emergency services who says tonight is the busiest they've been in months. Almost like everyone is celebrating the end of covid-19.

I don't really like posting anecdotal stuff without evidence to back it up but I'm still reeling from the past 24 hours and needed to vent.

We've had new downstairs neighbours move in and they have invited all their friends for a huge drunken housewarming party.

No social distancing and of course we've had to interact with them because they keep setting the bloody fire alarm off and they don't know how the controls work. :lol:

I can practically feel the rona shredding my lungs already. RIP me I guess.

I work in a child care setting and saw my deputy manager hug one of the parents.

The parents aren't even allowed in the building because of social distancing.

People are a bit gooseberry fool.

I admitted a lassie last week who had a negative test prior to arriving, but climbed out of what looked like a strawberry floating clown car with her 6 sons and daughters (all from different households) in the back.

I got her booked for a swab before they'd pulled out the car park.

From the front line, I'm a manager of a small supermarket in Clapham Common and its absolute carnage every Saturday, yesterday was particularly bad. It's like all the hardship from March-June is a distant memory and people go about their business as usual. The only positive is how compliant people have been with face coverings, very few arguments about wearing one which is a slight relief.
