It makes me laugh when I see people complaining about this being like living under a dictatorship. Even at its height it was the most relaxed and easiest to abuse lockdown possible and idiots think it's like the Third Reich just because the pub was shut and they had to wear a mask in a shop.

I'm uncomfortable with the idea that it should be schools that are expected to feed children whilst they are not in school, schools already have enough on their plates (excuse the pun).

However, after the first Rashford campaign, we really should have had some kind of national food service set up to take that responsibility off of schools and ensure no children go hungry.

It's just the usual government bollocks of plastering over problems they created by increasing poverty over the last decade, which has now been exposed during a national crisis.

Surely an even easier way would be to increase child benefit for children entitled to school meals over the school holiday periods?

I get horrific cabin fever, that's why when the shops reopened on June 15th, i was on an empty train to Bath the following day.

Schools are already setup for feeding children so it makes sense to expand their role. It also ensures a nutritious meal which isn't guaranteed when you just give the parents the money.

It should also be cheaper for the schools to feed the children due to economies of scale, but in current times with everything outsourced to private companies that probably isn't the case any more.

I think I prefer the days when the Conservative party were too embarrassed to let Rees Mogg appear in public.

It's not a border though is it, it's just a travel ban from certain hot spots?

No different to restrictions on travel in local lockdowns really?

I try and aim to go for a mile's walk in my garden every day but that aside I've only left the house approximately twice since March.

It's big but there's still a lot of walking back and forth.

Burnham is absolutely digging his heels in on Manchester going in to Tier 3 lockdown. This is shaping up to be quite the confrontation. I really hope he doesn't meekly surrender to a promise of a few more quid (that'll probably never arrive).

And people wonder why so many people are ignoring the rules.

Cummings destroyed the original lockdown, this decision (as well as Stanley Johnson) will stop people following any further lockdowns.

Does anyone else think it's odd that the government is having to fight/negotiate with local leaders over local lockdown?

I understand Scotland and Wales are self governing but Manchester should surely have to do what the UK government tells them?
