Army personnel allegedly part of the soldier encampment at Pontins Ainsdale have started leaving mixed reviews of the infamous holiday park.

Army personnel have been camping at the Pontins site on Shore Road in Ainsdale, with the one squaddie saying the resort was worse than living in war-torn Afghanistan.

Another said the holiday park was nowhere near as good as Camp Bastion in Helmand Province.

Camp Bastion was pretty well appointed, actually. And the weather was lovely.

Well after months and months with no cases, last night Adelaide and wider South Australia began a 6 day fire break, the strictest in the country, we aren’t even allowed out to exercise.

This is after a cleaner picked up the virus in our very successful hotel quarantine system, passed it on to a security guard in her family who also worked at a pizza bar. As a result, they suspect up to 10,000 people were at risk from visiting/getting takeaway from that bar.

We’ve had 23 positive cases from that hotel case and South Australia has prided itself on listening to the experts and has “Gone Early and Gone Hard” to stop it before it spreads any further. We had 0 cases today.

Was just on a conference call in work and one of my colleagues said she wouldn't be bothering with isolation if she was asked to. Several people agreed with her. Great stuff, very responsible.

This feels like the way it probably should've been done everywhere.

Supermarkets are the most frequent common exposure setting for those catching COVID-19 in England, new data suggests.

https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-supermarkets-most-common-exposure-setting-for-catching-coronavirus-in-england-latest-data-shows-12136418

Public Health England (PHE) collated the data using the NHS Test and Trace app.

By analysing the contacts and retracing the steps of the 128,808 people who'd reported they had tested positive between 9 November and 15 November, PHE has uncovered where transmission is likely to be happening.

During the increased national restrictions in England, supermarkets have remained open for shoppers. The new data set suggests they are now the primary setting where the disease is being transmitted.

The second most common location reported by those who tested positive for COVID-19 were secondary schools, followed by primary schools, and then hospitals, and then care homes.

Approximately 9,789 common locations were reported in total - of which the below list calculates the percentage of the most frequent.

Supermarket - 18.3%
Secondary school - 12.7%
Primary school - 10.1%
Hospital - 3.6%
Care home - 2.8%
College - 2.4%
Warehouse - 2.2%
Nursery preschool - 1.8%
Pub or bar - 1.6%
Hospitality - 1.5%
University - 1.4%
Manufacture engineering - 1.4%
Household fewer than five - 1.2%
General practice - 1.1%
Gym - 1.1%
Restaurant or cafe - 1.0%

In the most recent week, 124 clusters of COVID-19 were recorded in English secondary schools.

The total number of outbreaks in secondary schools in England is 822, while primary schools have recorded 732 clusters since records began.

Of those who tested positive for COVID-19 in the days analysed by PHE, 18.3% of them said they had visited a supermarket.

If lockdown started again on the 4th November, surely gyms were closed for the majority of that transmission time for the 9-15 November window...?

Gyms can reopen, but all mirrors must be removed and you can't stand in the window.

Don't symptoms take about 5 days to appear after the infection but can take over 10 days to first appear? You wouldn't generally order a test without symptoms.

If we can actually figure out how to do it, and the supplies actually arrive. Argh this is a bit premature.
Also watch out in stats - a person needs 2 doses separated by about 21 days (edit sorry said weeks by mistake) to be immunised, so the number you see might be an exaggeration.

Thanks for the kind words yesterday, sorry for being a bit wobbly.

Our numbers got worse despite the restrictions so we are having another lockdown in a week. The current one lifts next week, so basically between then now the entire population of Northern Ireland will be looking for a haircut.
