Quick question, my mums work are trying to get all their back into work to do ‘stock taking’ it’s a clothing retail store, the warehouse where she usually works is windowless and has zero ventilation. She also told me they have had issues with rat infestation over the current lockdown.

What are the rules with this, can retail stores force staff back to work for this type of thing?

She's definitely within her rights to say she doesn't feel comfortable doing so. Has she already told the employer this?

To be honest, the rat thing alone sounds like a reason to pull out the "Section 44" clause.

It’s all being discussed on her works WhatsApp group at the moment so she has not said anything yet. Thing is, she’s not comfortable going back but she’s not the type to say no if they ask as she’s worried saying no could cost her her job.

Disgusting isn't it, how dare they publicise vaccinations by showing well known names getting it.

So I have worked in an office since March and finished my old job on Friday and today I get a message from an ex colleague asking me to refresh the NHS app which I do

Low and behold I have to self-isolate for 7 days (why didn't I get the notification, no message from my friend, no notification I feel)
I'm WFH now but it's annoying as I don't want to be trapped in all the time but hey I have no symptoms at the moment so I consider that a win for now (fingers crossed)

Also my old work place keep asking members of staff to turn there tracing app off as they are covid secure and they didn't send people home straight away
Can an office be classed as covid secure if you have perspex screens (the part of the office I was in didn't have any)
Though I do see in the guidance an employer can't force you to turn the app off

I think an office can only be classed as "covid-secure" if HSE have come out specifically to check and award such a title. Otherwise, the company is just following the guidance (or not, in most cases).

Employers can't be telling people to turn the app off. No way.

Reading stuff like this makes me so glad I stood up to my employer right from the off and made it clear I wouldn't be pushed on this.

Covid Secure is a massive strawberry floating meme about wiping tables and sitting a metre away from other people. It doesn’t mean actually keeping people safe from contracting coronavirus, a respiratory infection which transmits in the air.

Think about it this way: if you were in a pub, at the opposite end of the room from a chain smoker, would you have been able to smell their cigarettes even if you were say reasonably far away? Yes, after a certain amount of time you probably would have. Thats how coronavirus is actually spreading.

Many offices don’t require staff to wear masks at all and do not have windows you can open. It is overwhelmingly likely that it’s impossible for your workplace to be “covid secure”, not that our government advice (which is dangerous, ineffective, and incoherent) would tell you that.

Went to walk the dog early this morning, in the only person out there, except one old guy walking a dog, and I can see he's on an intercept course with me on the other side of the road.

Wait, he's stopping, surely he's realised were going to bump in to each other.

Nope.

Crosses and joins behind me so close he could have put his arm around my shoulder. Dog goes mad and I go "for strawberry float sake" and drag the dog with me on to the grass away from him.

"Oh your dog pulls as well does he!"

For strawberry float sake. Why don't people give a gooseberry fool?
