Are you in one of the high priority groups? They brought it forward from 12 to 8 weeks for any outstanding from there a little while ago. Presumably that's still working it's way through system

No, just the over 40s.

Maybe they know something you don't? :?:

The vaccine doesn't stop cases. It stops cases from being dangerous. I don't think we'll ever be in a situation where there are 0 cases ever again.

I thought it was the over 50's who were being brought forward for their second.

I've not seen or heard anything about it being the over 40's apart from on here, as this could affect my sister's appointment (her second is currently due late july).

I had another day in the office today. Last time I went was in March I think, and it was empty. The car park is now about 60% full compared to pre Covid I'd say, a lot more people were in the office. Speaking to people, it seems there is a big amount of lockdown fatigue now, and people are wanting to return once or twice a week just for the social aspect.

I have to say, I really enjoyed it, which is weird as I wouldn't say I enjoyed going in pre-covid as let's face it nobody really wants to go to work. I saw my mate for the first time in over a year and it was strange how it felt like time stopped last March and restarted today!

I will praise my employer for once, they are extremely Covid safe, about as safe as you can get. Nobody was sat closer than 6 meters from anyone as the space is utilised well. We have anti-bac wipes and gel everywhere, even the canteen has social distancing to a far greater degree than if you were to go into a pub.

Everyone I spoke to today has had at least once jab and will have had their second jab by the end of July.

Cases over 7k again today.

Still hard to tell if it's translating into more series problems yet

They have been trending up for nearly a month and that hasn't translated to anything, I would argue that show it isn't much of a problem, at least at this level.

Upward trend started 2 weeks ago.

It's looking promising but still early to say for sure

It’s about 3-4 weeks since last easing, and previously there’s been a 2-3 week lag after cases in terms of serious impacts of deaths/hospitalisation. There’s worrying indicators in both.

Even if deaths stay low you also need to consider the number currently in hospital, not just those admitted. (Theory is younger people/vaccinated live, but stay in hospital longer)

Plus any impact on the NHS trying to ‘catch up’ with regular appointments.

They’ve rushed the 2nd doses but plenty of vulnerable won’t have had the time for it to ‘bed into’ system yet.

Given time lag and exponential elements you basically need to act before the problem is firmly incipient - they obviously should be taking action.

But that’s never been the case before so why expect they to behave differently now.
