Thanks for the thought, KK. I've not really looked at it (head in the sand; trying to avoid it etc) but I'm gonna go check it out right now.

Bank of England Governor, Andrew Bailey, who is paid more than £500,000 a year, roughly 18x the national median, says workers shouldn't ask for big pay rises.

Mr Bailey was paid £575,538 including pension, in the year from 1 March 2020, more than 18 times higher the median annual pay of £31,285 for full-time employees.

It kinda reads like poorer people are to blame for price increases; and that such people shouldn't ask for more money as this may inconvenience wealthier people.

Andrew Bailey could offset the doubling of salary for 18 people on average wage, by simply falling into a shallow grave and never getting back out.

I checked the same. Was having a look at Council Taxes in London and I live in one of the lowest Borough's (Southwark), would be interesting to know say what Kingston or Croydon got better of to justify the difference).

But bloody hell Westminster & Wandsworth are low.

Kingston and Croydon doesn't get better council services than Wandsworth, many of the services are actually shared between them to benefit from economies of scale. And the quality of services is always highly rated too.

Wandsworth going back decades now has just been an example of good local governance, they kept costs low enough that they didn't even charge a poll tax.

Wandsworth also has loads of council estates too so it's not got unique factors that would explain why an inner London Borough would be so much cheaper than another inner London Borough like Lambeth next door.

This whole energy crisis could have been avoided if we didn't gooseberry fool the bed over nuclear energy a few decades ago.

I think we're actually reducing our capacity over the next few years too :fp:
