Thank you guys - really appreciated! Up to over 700 in total, now  - still struggling more with the 'healthy' people recruitment, so if anyone hasn't completed it or could send on to others/nag family, would be awesome . Ran some pretty neanderthal statistical analysis on the data so far, and the results look statistically significant and quite interesting so far :shifty: - which is promising!

Done.

Actually found it very useful, I kind of shocked myself with some of the answers there. I really do need to work on my mental health. :dread:

Thanks both of you - your time is hugely appreciated!

I'm glad it was useful in a way, Red dog... and yes - I got a bit a shock when I filled in the same mental health questionnaires as part of a different research study a while ago... if you're wanting to actually score yourself as a baseline - the questionnaires are the GAD7 for anxiety and PHQ8 for depression :-)

Study update:

Hello everyone! A huge thanks to you wonderful people who took part. We ended up with ~1,300 responses in total including ~1,000 people currently experiencing long-covid induced taste and smell disorders from 57 countries around the world.

We're running data analysis at the moment which is a shit-ton of coding but some spoilers for those interested (don't tell anyone):

- Early signs are that (shock) people with sensory loss presented significantly greater depression and anxiety symptomatology
- Self-reported symptom severity had significant relationships with anxiety and depression severity.
- Over the whole group, people who reported a decrease in physical activity reported significantly worse mental health than those who self-reported maintained or increased physical activity levels...

Nothing shocking as yet but the findings are really interesting and we have some really statistically significant findings in a big sample group.

Once the data analysis has come together, we'll pull an article together and hopefully get it published, and I'll bump this thread with a link. This will probably be sometime over summer.

Hopefully we don't find the same conclusions as a couple of my undergraduate students with their dissertations who collected data that proposed the more you drink and the more you smoke, the happier you are. Maybe we've been barking up the whole tree this whole time.

Cheers.

That makes sense though.

The more I drink and smoke the happier I am.
