Sirius is a subscription service in the US. It's the kind of deal Microsoft would make... but it's just over the edge of believable.

I was laughing more at the fact that subscribers would be able to listen to it in game..I simply don't believe the 360 is capable of doing it.

As for the future, I have no doubt that MS/Sony will launch some radio stations once they get IPTV up & running.

Rockstar should get their own radio station for 360 listening shenanigans.

That reminds, does anyone here remember that feature that was going to be in Test Drive Unlimited? You were going to be able to listen to real world radio while playing the game.

I hope they plan on significanly boosting the Xbox originals roster. The rate of which they do it is far to slow in my opinion. If they are adding 10+ games to the orignials thats the only way i can see 6 free games happening(thats nearly over half of whats avaliable at the moment)

I think the benefit would be more to a mainstream audience. The avatars, LiPs, Banjo, to show its more appealing to families aswell as hardcore gamers

I hope so too.

I think they need work on getting more games BC though. It still saddens me that both Stranger's Wrath & TCOR: Escape from Butchers Bay aren't BC. :(

cooldawn wrote:On average I would say XBOX360's marketing push has been visually better than PlayStation3's though. Nearly every new big budget release is co-marketed by Microsoft i.e. 'Jump In' is seen at the end of the majority of commercials. The only push Sony had this year was for GT5P and MGS4 but combined they are dwarfed by the huge XBOX360 GTA:IV campaign (which will be heavily promoted again when the DLC hits).

I'm sure a re-launch will do no harm but I'm skeptical as to how much impact it will have (if this is all true of course).

I can only remember seeing an ad for MGS4 in the cinema, that's it. Can't remember seeing anything for GT5P?

I'm thinking TV, that is.

I never saw any ads for GT5. I saw a few for MGS4 on tv and one in the cinema, but really I think Sony's marketing this gen has been piss poor, it's basically the Playstation name that has carried them through.

Yeah definitly. But i remember reading an interview a while back that claimed they were winding down the whole BC stuff. Stranger's and Riddick are two pretty big games, but the one game i'm most disappointed about is Silent Assasin - the best Hitman game in my opinion.

"I don't know if we have plans to do any more releases," admitted Penello, adding: "It feels like we kind of hit the point of diminishing returns there.

"I know with the Xbox Originals, there are still things happening there, but in terms of a lot of engineering work around bringing out new titles, I think they're winding that down," he went on to tell Kotaku.

I don't get it? :?

Free Xbox originals would be great as would a radio station, not that I'd pay for it but it's certainly an interesting idea.

They would indeed be great, but I can't see it happening.

A radio station might be in the works, but I doubt you'll be able to listen to it when playing a game...as I said, I simply do not believe the 360 is capable of it.

As for free Xbox originals, I really doubt they'd ever give away original titles....they are simply too big in size for most of the userbase to download & enjoy.

Free arcade titles is more realistic, but even then...it would only 1-2 free titles.

That's a very good point. Free arcade games is a lot more realistic. Wouldn't be surprised if Uno Rush was one of them, even if only for a short amount of time.

I think a radio station could be possible. If this update really does reinvent the console, it's certainly a possibly.

Only time will tell.

I don't see how streaming of internet radio would be hard. It's not like it's particularly bandwidth-intensive.

It could if it was done in the same way the movie service works, allowing people to listen to the radio when playing game wouldn't work.

It'd ruin online gaming and I'm guessing it would also cause some slowdown in games.

Just treat it in the same way as playing a custom soundtrack. It'd only be using download, of which most people have plenty, and from a 3rd party server with plenty of bandwidth on their end. I just don't see the problem.

You can download stuff in the background while playing single player/offline multiplayer and that doesn't cause slowdown, why would streaming a radio station suddenly cause the Xbox to fall apart? And they didn't say you could listen to the radio while playing online, just that you could use it while playing the game. It could be an offline only kind of thing. In saying that, would the download of an audio only channel really be big enough to have any kind of impact on the online service?

While it doesn't cause slowdown to the games, it does impact the download speed of whatever you're downloading. (which would impact the streamin of said radio station)

It depends on what the quality of the audio & from what I can gather...it will be a streaming only affair.

In fact, talking about it I'm surprised Sony or Microsoft haven't implemented internet radio generally yet. There's loads of decent, free streams, and it would be an interesting feature.

Listening to the Radio is a big feature on the PSP, but I don't think they've added that functionality into the PS3 yet.

not really sure what they need a relaunch for, i think they would do better buy creating some interesting adverts for Christmas and perhaps buying some more game devs now they have lost bungie.
