Cricket Through The Ages - Dumb Question

Bought this when it came out on Steam last week - enjoying it a lot!

I played it for a little while on Friday, and got past the Ash's World Cup section before stopping. When I went back to it today I had to start from the beginning, but now I can't get that far again and I keep looping back to the main menu after the alien levels. It's giving me no info on how to progress - I'm really confused and I want to play the proper levels with scores/overs etc.

What do?
