Cruis'n Blast | Switch | Crazy racin'! - "stupendously entertaining, infectiously energetic racer" - EG 8/10

The game launches tomorrow and this is the first review I have seen. It all sounds pretty positive for arcade racing fans... some of the courses look to be terrific!

...and here's some direct-feed footage. It really does look over-the-top and seems to run very well; I believe it's 60 FPS. I was thinking that my copy would arrive today but nothing turned up... hopefully tomorrow!

I just took a spin around the first course :toot:

. Initial impressions:

+ Classic Cruis'n theme tune... "Let's go... Cruis'n!"
+ Excellent arcade/90s styled presentation; brash, bold and bright
+ Slick performance in race; there is a ton going on in the background at all times
- Slightly long load times
- If you don't like simple arcade-styled racing and over-the-top action, this won't appeal to you

Reviews are now appearing, Tom - there are nine on Metacritic; average score is 70 with the highest being 85 and the lowest 50; Nintendo Life awarded it [8].

Just watched that myself. Definitely thinking this could be a purchase in a sale.

Not being funny, but the graphics are absolutely GameCube level, and it being an arcade adaptation is *not* an excuse for that. I was interested in this as a cut-price Burnout clone but watching those reviews...it's not for me.

Fair play and more power to you, dude. The fast, over-the-top arcade-style racing action won't suit everyone. I don't feel that folk who are enjoying the game are giving an "excuse" and it is reviewing reasonably well, tho'.

It's all cool - not everyone has to like every game.

No, it’s just not been mentioned at all which I find baffling. I’m far from a stickler for graphics(I play enough N64/GameCube games after all!) but I am amazed that something looking like this does has been released as a full priced title.

It’s a shame, because I love arcade racing games and I really wanted to like this.
