The drifting really isn't that hard to get used to though. I haven't played this game in 25 years and I didn't even know about the 3x boosting when I did.

Just seems like a massive design flaw but hey what do I know.

Got it a few days ago and been enjoying it a lot. Never played the original. In terms of karting games, I believe it's just been the Mario Kart series and Diddy Kong Racing for me, so it's been refreshing. I like the mechanics and how it feels a fair bit more involved than those other games.

Mainly slowly making my way through Adventure Mode at the moment, doing the challenges for each track.

For me it has been comparing very favourably with MK8, which I wasn't too crazy about, despite some disappointing aspects like it being 30fps and the long loading times which are worse for me on Switch. But at least it's not any worse frame rate wise compared to the other versions and it's a nice looking game. Characters are expressive and have a lot of personality too.

The original PSone release is currently £1.99 on the PS Store. Compatible with Vita and PS3.

So I picked it up...I really don't get the drifting. It seems to only work on a right angle.

Fun kart racer but I'm not sold on some of the mechanics.

Once you start the drift you can just turn the other way and you'll go quite straight

I ran the update and I think it's corrupted my save data. This strawberry floating sucks.

It runs on a seperate account I have with no data on it and I've tried reinstalling the update but getting the same problem.

The Grand Prix launched today, so have ventured online. Was surprised to see so much hopping, hoping it isn't like snaking on the DS Mario Kart.

Game needs a blue shell, but I'm starting to get the hang of the drifting and having a lot of fun with it. Looks incredible, and seems to be packed with content.

I've now got it and I'm loving it! I'm sure there's many, many more hours going into this, and it's very likely it'll be knocking Forza Horizon 4 from the primary play spot.

Clearly I suck gooseberry fool at this game. I can't get any better than 6th place in an online race. I know how to get drift boosts, but everyone else seems to be hopping all over the show instead of chaining boosts. Am I missing something??

The item balance in this is actually way worse than Mario Kart. Red Shells atleast are consistent, missiles it feels like my enemies ones have super homing and mine immediately drive into the wall - the blue sphere is never fast enough to hit the people up in first as they just drive away from it forever and the hitboxes on some of them online is just awful.

Still enjoying it but damn it's more annoying than MK.
