CTR was fun, but it's no DKR. :datass:

Might check this out at some point mind - what's the multiplayer setup like on it? Does it support cross-play and the like? Just wondering if we might get enough peeps to do some GR races?

I don't think there's crossplay, which is a shame, so any GR sessions would need to plan for who has which version.

Just started. Having to click through 70 pages of legal gooseberry fool was an interesting introduction.

The boss battles in this game are so reliant on the placement of drops and weapons you get (both which are random) feels like a dice roll every time you play them. Especially oxide and pinstripe.

How are the hub loading times on your various systems? Because on the Xbox (S) they’re ridiculously long.

Not too bad actually. It's not too long, but it is still a bit long time.

Anyway, it took me a while getting used to the drifting and now I think I'm getting the hang of it.

They're 20 seconds on PS4 and Xbox and 30 on Switch. It was like this on the Nsane trilogy before they patched it to make it much faster.

UK Charts: Crash Team Racing puts the bandicoot back at No.1

Having dominated the charts for the past two summer, Activision is aiming for a hat trick with the chart-topping debut of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.

The revamped racing game launched at No.1, and enjoyed the second highest week one sales in the history of the franchise (the record-holder, of course, is the N Sane Trilogy).

It's actually the third best launch of the year so far, behind Sony's Days Gone and another remake, Resident Evil 2. It outsold the next biggest game of the week, FIFA 19, by almost eight times as many copies.

Crash Team Racing also far outsold rival title Team Sonic Racing, with more than four times as many copies sold in week one. Interestingly, the audiences differed somewhat -- 66% of Crash buyers are on PS4, while only 40% of Sonic's customers were on Sony's console. However, Switch made up 39% of Team Sonic Racing's launch sales, but only 16% of Crash's.

Activision's racer was one of only two releases that made it into the Top 40 this week, with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night debuting at No.17.

Most titles saw a drop in sales week-on-week, ranging from as little as 16% for Mario Kart to as high as 64% for Days Gone. The only game that saw a lift in sales was Tom Clancy's The Division 2, up 15% this week.

Nintendo Life have got their review up, and it's fairly positive. I loved this bit from it, though.
the AI may be cheaper than AmazonBasics USB cables

They gave it an 8/10, which seems in line with most other reviews.

Online has a real problem right now.

What usually happens is one person who picks a speed class character gets out ahead, and because there is no rubber banding they just win, because they're out of the pack of the rest of the racers which means they just don't get hit by any weapons wand because they're speed class they can literally just go faster than everyone else.

Happens in about 80% of races right now. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mario Kart 8 is like this with heavies and certain players here. It's just how kart games are. If you get caught in the peleton you're pretty much guaranteed to never win due to items.

Shouldn't they maybe you know, reduce some stats on the speed class or something? The whole point of kart racers is they're meant to be dynamic. If I wanted to spend 90% of the race in the same position I'd play a sim.

Because I noticed the speed class on this game really doesn't sacrifice anything. Their acceleration is still pretty decent (compared to mario kart where speed characters accelerate really slowly) and acceleration doesn't really matter when you can gain speed from drift boosts so easily anyway. Plus hopping allows you to cancel out thier meh handling.

Just seems a bit silly to have such a massive roster and then only 1/3 of them be viable.

Like why should I care about unlocking new skins and racers if I'm never going to be able to use them?

I really enjoy the boosting system but you're spot on about acceleration-a decent player will be boosting their way round the track with ease so it really doesn't matter than much.

The lower tier characters are there so you can fully humiliate opponents by still winning with them. Got to put those filthy casuals in their place somehow.

They're the best characters but they're the hardest to use. People who aren't good at drifting aren't going to do well with them.

Personally I'd prefer all kart racers didn't have stats or character differences at all, so I could just choose the character I like the most, but hey ho.
