Well, CTR is one of the best kart racers ever. This remake has packed a lot of extra stuff into it, and as I'm sure you've seen in the thread, is only let down by the game being built around a microtransaction system. Just play through the adventure mode first and ignore most of the other stuff, as that will allow you to experience the classic game.

Cool. As a principle I never engage in DLC/Microtransactions so that won't be an issue for me (as long as I am still able to unlock everything).

You should be able to get everything from the shop eventually if you want to try for it all, but I don't think that would be wise. And certainly not needed if you're just going to casually play it.

Throughly enjoyed the blast from the past. Even with my partner who some how having never spent her childhood on this game became an expert in about a week :slol:

I only wish the career/adventure mode was longer taking in the extra tracks. The game outright at times is frustrating as hell but fun. Not played online yet will look this week :D

Sometimes, this game surprises me. Relic races are meant to be the hardest thing ever, even on easy, yet despite crashing into walls, losing boosts, and as you can see barely any crates collected, a platinum earned with plenty of seconds to spare.

On easy they are really easy. Some of them are really challenging on medium/hard - as far as I can tell, the requirements on those two difficulties are the same.

But yeah even on the harder difficulties there are some easy ones to get platinums on. A few I've gotten without even gunning for it or expecting a sapphire. The difficulty is all over the place. Some of them I've found gruelling like Sewer Speedway - bit of routing to do but that unreliable shortcut is a killer. Apparently they've fixed that now though. Been a while since I've been on the game so I'll need to try it again at some point.

I don't think they fixed it fully, as even with sacred fire the kart can still just not jump up to it.

I got this recently, forgot to add my thoughts:

1) This is definitely harder than the original
2) Loading times suck
3) Being constantly interrupted to be told about cosmetic unlocks and GP progress sucks
4) Not being able to fire missiles backwards is something I can't get used to

I'm guessing this was a thing in the original. I had no idea so I looked it up and found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/crashteamracin ... backwards/

Seems it's still a feature (kinda) but not as good.

I finally started this. Went with Adventure, medium difficulty and and the mode that wasn't classic. Enjoying it so far. Got one more CTR coin to get in the first world.

Did anyone else initially struggle with:

1) finding the T on Crash Cove
2) reaching the T on Crash Cove

Spent about 45 minutes just trying to get the strawberry floater and then took a few goes to actually win the bloody race with all the letter.

I half-remembered it from the original, but it's a somewhat baffling part of the level considering it has no practical use (especially driving out all the way onto the ship??)

I am, albeit slowly, progressing through this when time allows. I've finished the first three worlds with sapphire relics.

Decided to randomly try for a gold and platinum, ended up on Blizzard Bluff. Got the gold easy enough and the platinum is within reach, I just need to put the complete run together.

Nailed it within a few tries, always seems the way with these things. Try, try, try, take a break, come back and bear instant success.

After that I retreated to try the platinums in the first world which I've now got. I was dreading Crash Cove and having to nail the jump again but surprisingly I was able to do it with good regularity. The sewer level was easily the most fun and again I managed to make the shortcut quite often.

Decided I might as well go for the 102% completion, currently sitting at 67%. What are the hardest and easiest platinum relics to obtain?

Edit: I don't fancy quadruple posting so until someone else does, I'll note down my progress here.

06/11/2019: strawberry floating Papu's Pyramid. The level is not actually that hard as there's only a couple of things that can go wrong. The first is hopping off the tower early in the lap to get the four crates in the air. Miss one and it's a restart. The other is about two-thirds into the level, but there's multiple things that can trigger a restart. 1) You gotta make your hop onto the flat-topped pyramid to get the crate. 2) You gotta nail your hop onto the side of the main pyramid. 3) You gotta avoid the goddamn strawberry floating plants which guard two crates. ANY of those don't go well and it's a restart. The rest of the level is a bloody cakewalk. Anyway, I eventually did put together a run where I accomplished all of the above and came in at 4 seconds under the platinum requirement.

Thankfully, the next level, Tiger Temple, was very easy and I had that done in about 15 minutes. 9 platinums down.

Drumstick, have you had chance to play this in local multiplayer at all? And if you have, how does it compare to MK8 (assuming you've played that too)?

Haven't played it in local multiplayer, and I've only played MK8 once a couple of years back.
