The combat is fun but isn't as responsive when fighting a group of guys as in say the Arkham games. No I'm not saying the Arkham games are the pinnacle of an action beat em up, more the responsiveness and weight before anyone pipes up.

Hint: It's not the combat that'll make you love it. Embrace how bloody mental it all is.

When you're running around stopping the neighborhood pervert and there's issues with eyebrow raisingly racist orphans, come back and tell me it isn't the best thing you've played in ages.

Also just about every game with a fighting element comes up short against Arkham when it comes to responsiveness of moves.

Vanquish

I'm really not that big on cover based TPSes, but this is one I can get into due to its insanity. It is nice that I've finally gotten over my 'see every cut scene' mentality, I'm skipping them all here and am quite assured I'm not missing anything :P

This has come out of a desire to finally check out Platinum's work, going to give Bayonetta a go next :)

Ah so it's one of those Japanese games with clunky controls and dull gameplay, but it's wacky so it gets a pass.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yawn/10. This isn't the Katawa Shoujo thread.

The combat is actually pretty good, if you like old Ps2 style brawlers. That, the plot and the characters make the Yakuza a good game. 3 just so happens to be a great one.

Borderlands
Enjoyable, but letting itself down with annoying enemies, poor vehicle controls and having to manually pick up ammo. Irritating.

UFC Undisputed
Got a great streak going, about 18 fights, then lost just before a title shot. :x Good fun though, apart from the shitty training games.

Started Deadly Premonition this evening, and its certainly something. One the one hand it looks only slightly better than a ps2 game, the driving controls are terrible, the combat is like a poor knockoff of RE4 and the movement controls are fairly archaic. On the other hand its drawn me in and intrigued me in a way that quite a few games that have looked and mechanically played far better than this haven't done in a long time.

Its not 'wacky'as such, just very surreal, and nails the Twin Peaks vibe spot-on. Playing on 360 but will buy the PC version in a few months anyway, wish I'd started this sooner

God of war 3/ascension.

Jesus Christ. These are awesome. From fighting on a Titan to fighting Hercules. :datass: I don't like that there isn't no manual camera movement? But I've always loved god of war, kratos is a ridiculous anti hero...the whole thing is just bloody awesome.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

God of war 3 was alright, not quite in the same league as ninja gaiden on the original xbox, how us ascension? Worth me trying if I thought 3 was alright?

Ascension is the worst God of War to date, in my opinion.

I need to start and finish God of War 3 before GTA arrives. It's the last PS3 game I want to have wrapped up this gen.

I loved the original god of war. Has a much better story arc than gaiden. I love the Greek mythology stuff.

Haven't played much of ascension but I'm really enjoying the third one. I'd say give it a go.

Playing Earthbound. Someone tell me what is great about this? It is extremely clunky and the gameplay really isn't all that great. I'm at the desert. I just don't get it at all.

That was my least favourite part by quite some distance.

The part in the zombie infested town annoyed the hell out of me. Put about 8 hours into the game. Will put in a bit more time in and if nothing changes, I'll stop playing it. I'm just not enjoying it.

Although you have to say it quietly around these parts.... it's not really as great a game as folks make it out to be. I think the lack of availability added to the myth of its greatness.
