I'm really getting into this now. It's a great Metroid-vania style game.

Which version? Have you met the Irish snake yet? :fp:

PC

And yes, he's right near the start. He sounds just like you Chalky. It's a really authentic accent.

I used to play the game loads when I was younger but spent most of my time going round in circles not getting anywhere. So I think it's time that I finally beat it. I'm further in than I've ever been before already.

There's a joke to be made here, but I'm reluctant to do it.

This is why you'll never be head mod.

I was replaying Shadowman on the DC the other week.

I used to love it, but it hasn't aged well. Definitely better on the DC's controller than the N64, mind (which I originally played it on). It's not the most graceful of games anymore, and it's a bit of a pain doing all the platformy/jumping stuff. It's also not a very well signposted game, and can leave you wandering around aimlessly. It desperately needed a Zelda-style map or compass system.

Was great at the time though. Really nature, deep adventure, which the N64 didn't have many of.

I got stuck in Shadow Man when you had to find parts of some sword to let you use your powers in the real world or some such nonsense then never went back. I wouldn't mind giving it another look.

Do you need them all to finish the game?

I got the final Legion battle (I didn't manage to beat him) and I didn't think I had collected them all.

Besides, from reading N64 Magazine, I think Acclaim accidentally put too many Dark Souls in. There was supposed to be a total of 200, or 210 or whatever, but there was actually about 215. People kept finding more...

Still, for its day, I thought it was a brilliant title - long, tense and atmospheric. Hunting down the serial killers was great and some of the levels really were unlike anything seen on the N64.

You should play for longer, the combat opens up abit the more you progress. Don't have an issue with the linearity personally, had enough of my sandbox fill to last me a while.

Very much a b-tier game but an enjoyable one at that.

But a very good-looking game. I was really impressed with the art style and level designs.

The art style is fantastic, I was just checking dont-nod (the Dev team), didn't realise they were France based (it makes sense now). These guys, given a bit more time could produce something really spectacular in the future. Keeping my eye on what they do next, fo sho'.

I don't have time for 'B-tier' games, snobby as that sounds.
Yes, I know, before anyone mentions Aliens: Colonial Marines. A guy can learn from mistakes, yeah?

My magical 3DS. It's so beautiful, Suzzopher is the finest person who ever lived for selling it to me. The sheer amount of games on it, arguably won't need to buy a new one until 2015 if I'm to play through them all. But mostly my time is invested between Pokemon Y and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I've never played an Animal Crossing game before, I can't get over how lovely and relaxing it is. I could easily see it becoming a favourite purely for giving me an experience almost entirely separate from the usual 'videogames blasty violence' that plagues the industry.

And Pokemon Y is a Pokemon game. It's brilliant.

Brer, your sig is amazing.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, this game is amazing! Once the parry system clicks it becomes an immensely satisfying action game, even if you're not that good at it it still makes you feel like the ultimate badass. Anyone who's ever wanted a ninja cyborg game must be ecstatic!

I remember reading that in N64 as well but I checked online the other day and apparently it was just a glitch where you could collect a few of the same souls twice.

Layton 6 certainly picks up after the opening few hours, and is much better now. I still think it's had a good run, and I won't be sad to see it go, but at least it's going out in style.

I hope to God I don't need all the dark souls to complete the game else I'll never manage it.

I think you needed like 100 out of 120. That's probably wrong, it's been a while.

EDIT: Actually maybe you did need them all. I thought you just needed them all to get that second gun but that was the red things wasn't it?

Well, it's probably a whole lot easier doing it now than back in 1999 when I didn't have the Internet.

Like I said, I was on the final boss and I know I didn't get all the dark souls - there was at least one at one of the Nad Temples that I could see but never actually claim.

I think it was the Cadeux that got you second gun. And I originally rented the game and got stuck when you had to construct that dagger. Not sure what flummoxed me now.

Might go home and play this instead of AC IV. I think I got to the first Wasteland bit and got totally disoriented by the mass of grey and brown with no map.
