I enjoyed this when it first came to Game Pass. It felt quite refreshing for a Metroidvania.

Yeah I really enjoyed it. Got 100% and all achievements for 7 hours, bit on short side (and last area is naff) but otherwise enjoyable.

I've hit 300k gamerscore which meant I met my goal for this year, so I'm taking it easy and playing Halo CE via Halo MCC on Heroic (Normal on Halo is too easy for me nowadays) and Portal Bridge Constructor.

I might start Outer Worlds soon, but it's not installed on my bfs Xbox and I don't feel like going to other room to play on my PC atm (My Xbox is unplugged at the moment and I can't be bothered setting it up plus it's waaaay too loud for my bf to put up with)

Disco Elysium

Picked this up based on the strength of praise it's had so far, and the fact that the vibe of the thing is absolutely my jam. The moment my character started arguing with his necktie, I knew this was going to be something different. The writing is incredible, and it's just the right kind of post modern existentialism that I love to read in a novel, so to find a game doing this feels really cool.

I am already getting my usual RPG anxiety, though. I'm not sure if I'm playing it "right", and I'm starting to worry that my actions may be undermining my ability to progress. I want to talk to everyone and explore everything, but I can see the day ticking away in the bottom of the screen. Can I run out of time, if I spend too long just exploring? What if I miss something important because I'm rushing to get stuff done before the day ends?

I don't want to look too much up on Google, because I want to avoid spoilers, but am I going to screw myself over if I take my time with this?

Don't Google anything, just enjoy the ride, my man.

Disco Elysium is unique in that you just aren't going to see everything in one play through. Since reaching the end of the story, I've read other people's impressions of the game and have been blown away by how different certain quests have turned out for other people. The amount of overlapping layers in the quest lines and writing is really impressive. I can't imagine the amount of work that must have gone into even one dialogue tree.

For what it's worth, I had awful luck for most of my play through. I must've failed a huge chunk of the important skill checks but I didn't mind as it just reinforced the sense that I was playing the game as my character, rather than playing to check a 100% box. And it means I'll have plenty new things to see and do next time I play it.

It really is a role-playing game in the truest sense, where your character matters so much more than a list of completed objectives and XP gains.

Oh yeah, I fully intend to enjoy it without really knowing what's ahead of me, and I've tried to avoid as much info so far, but I'm just worried about the speed at which time passes in the game, and whether I'm going to be screwing myself over by taking my time. Like, what happens when day 1 ends? Do I need to have made a certain amount of progress? Will I be locking myself out of stuff if I haven't found it in time?

I just shouldn't play games with time limits.

I believe you can complete the main quest line and get a satisfying ending no matter how long you take. From what I understand, solving the case quickly is only a requirement for getting the "best" ending.

I haven't completed the game myself yet so I don't know if the way you've managed your time plays a significant role in later events or the ending but I had similar concerns to begin with and it doesn't seem to have been an issue whatsoever. I've always felt like I've had more than enough time to be thorough and investigate or interact with everything and everyone. After around 35 hours of playing, I had one character imply there's maybe 4 or 5 days left of the investigation for story reasons and that sounded like ample time.

A small tip though, time will stop progressing once the clock hits 2AM each night. You won't be able to talk to most NPCs that late so you'll be somewhat limited in what you can get done but some books can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours to read, so it's a good opportunity to inspect items you pick up without spending any in-game time.

Skyrim on Xbox One.

I didn't feel like doing flood levels on Halo CE yet so looked at my game collection and decide to get into Skyrim again. Last time I played a lot was on Xbox 360 (I did play pc but because of playing lot of 360 version I didn't play it much. I still modded a lot though)

Since it's been while I'm really enjoying it all over again, the quicker loading/saving as well stable FPS really made it better version to play (obviously not good as pc version) so I'm happy enough.

Of course it still crashes though. Had about three, thankfully with quick saving it's not really issue as it was on Xbox 360 (since I can just boot up Skyrim rather than whole console and instantly get into game again)

Witcher 3 (Switch) - No idea how many blood sacrifices had to be completed to get this to work but it was worth every single drop. What a game and even better portable. About 25 hours in and essentially just replaying what I'd done on PS4 and probably making exactly the same choices. And not bored at all. The writing in this game is just superb, the Baron quest had me feeling sorry for the banana split yet again. Oh and Triss is still mighty fine even with a few less polygons.

Favourite bit though is still the cut scene that plays when you clear an abandoned place. Those three blokes swagger in as if they're the hardest strawberry floaters in christendom yet they'd previously shat it over a couple of ghouls.

Super Mario Galaxy - I was late to the party with Nintendo. Pretty much started playing their games for the first time about 9 years ago, trying to catch up in a somewhat chronological order, and tend to alternate between a 3D Mario and Zelda each Christmas, but decided to try and speed things up as I want to get to Odyssey and Breath of the Wild, so going to play Galaxy and Twilight Princess this Christmas.

Playing this way, a big theme is playing a critically acclaimed game so many years later, a generation or two has passed, and I always assume some of the magic will be lost, but it never is. Even 12 years after release, it's close to gaming perfection. I actually can't think of any other 3D platformer outside of the other Mario games that even comes close. This from a self-confessed hater of motion controls.

Gone back to complete Saints Row 3 on Switch, still enjoying it a lot even if it is showing it's age. Just done a mission where you have to clear a Zombie infected area for Burt Reynolds.

Shovel Knight Treasure Trove: Shovel of Hope

Started playing the original campaign of Shovel Knight for the first time. I like it, I’ve only beaten Black Knight and Spectre Knight so far but it’s fun in an old school NES way.

I'm still playing Contact on DS, I finished the Egypt themed area earlier this week and moved on to the Japan-esque area last night which appears to mark something of a difficulty spike annoyingly enough.

Been playing Outer Worlds, I like it but I'm finding it too easy after initial struggle, as soon as I picked up long weapon plasma rifle I killed enemies in few shots left & right. Playing on hard difficulty too

The ammo is plentiful too, looked up and seems lot of people think so too. Disappointing.

Ah well, it's still good.

Just finished the main campaign in Beserk on PS4, still a lot of grinding to do. Also started the single player on Star Wars Battlefront 2, so far it's enjoyable.

Yeah I don't think they got the difficulty balancing right in this at all. The vast majority of the game was a cake walk for me.

And yeah the ammo is messed up to, I finished with like 4000 rounds for all of my weapons!

It's still a fantastic game though. :toot:

I've only ever finished 2 of them before, Dragon Quest Heroes and Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage. I enjoyed both of them but they were incredibly grind heavy, Ken's Rage especially. Ken's Rage does have a very easy but also very tedious to obtain Platinum Trophy however.

Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors and Warriors Orichi 3 are the most enjoyable ones I've played. Hyrule warriors is a different level of musou game.

Untitled Goose Game

It's alright, seems very pretty easy. I think it's probably the kind of game you should play with others to get the full appreciation of the comedy, stuff.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.
